The Sky City Cultural Center and Haak’u Museum, rich in cultural architecture, serves as the reception center and museum for visitors to the Pueblo of Acoma, as well as a research and community use facility for tribal members. The primary 40,000 square foot Cultural Center is a two story structure with a basement and central courtyard/plaza area. The Cultural Center was designed to represent and recreate the ancestral architectural styles of the Acoma people – which include natural stacked stone and natural mud plastered adobe – while showcasing Acoma Pueblo architecture both past and present. This world class facility is dedicated to the preservation of Acoma history, traditional pottery and other art forms, the repatriation of objects of cultural patrimony and the development of both educational and interpretive programs.

After visiting many ruins of Ancestral Puebloans we went to this active pueblo that has been lived in since 1150 A.D. Actually while there are two hundred some homes within the pueblo only a few families live in the pueblo today. Most of the homes are used like summer homes by the Acoma natives. Many of the Acoma do come... More

This was one of my favorite places and visit during my stay in Albuquerque. The guide, Kristen was very good, giving just the right amount of information to help us understand the development and past of this place. Local artists had their handcrafted items outside their living space and I bought several small items to bring home. WE ate lunch... More

We had lunch here after we took a morning tour of the Acoma pueblo. That's another subject altogether, but well worth doing the tour. Their lunch menu was mostly salads, sandwiches and burgers. I chose the Haak"u Wrap, which was chicken breast with a green chile avocado, wrapped in a corn tortilla, and served with fries, salad or chips. The... More

You take a little bus ride to the top of the mesa. Your tour guide takes you throughout the historic community walking on primitive paths and streets of natural rock and soil. Our tour guide Christine was very informative, knowledgeable, humorous, and keep us interested in what she had to say about her community and it's history. We used hiking... More

The Acoma people truly welcome visitors to the Cultural Center and pueblo high above on a mesa. They have an excellent museum and native fusion cafe at the Cultural Center. The tour is also excellent and you'll learn about the Acoma people and their history. Be sure and look at the local pottery and consider a purchase.

A friend took me here and I must say, it was one of the most fascinating things I have ever seen! Kristin was our tour guide, and if you can get her, it will be a "win" for you! The pueblo was fascinating, the history was fascinating, the architecture was fascinating, etc.... Don't miss it if in New Mexico!

The Cultural Center is attractive, however, it is the pueblo itself, a few minutes ride via shuttle that you want to visit. Visitors must stay together with the guide to visit the church and other outside buildings. There are about 13 families that still live here part of the time, no electricity, etc. There are opportunities to buy pottery directly... More

I had been fascinated by the Sky City for years and finally got there. We showed up for the 9:30 a.m. tour which was already almost full because of a tour group. When we finished the tour there were many people waiting for the next one, even tho this was mid-October in mid-week. Our recommendation is to go early. While... More

Full of amazing culture, history and beauty. The dances were fun to watch and the singer was informative. The history of the local school was interesting, full of pictures and items to see. Didn't try the cafe but had several patrons, must have been good.
