We called ahead to make sure tours were available on the day we wanted. We were two of six people on the tour. The tour guide lives on-site and is very knowledgeable about the history of the town. The tour took about two hours and was well worth the price.

This ghost town is full of historical buildings and the property has been in the same family for 3 generations. They have taken extraordinary efforts to preserve the past. Guided tour is interesting and informative. Guide was excellent. One of my favorite stops during my road trip west due to feeling like I had stepped back in time. Highly recommend.

I have been to many old ghost towns. not only is this a great one, for it's past history but learning about he Hill family is an added joy. The Hills did a remarkable job maintaining this wonderful place and were truly real cowboys. I wish I was closer i would love to spend more time there

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Shakespeare Ghost Town. Dave welcomed as soon as we drove We enjoyed the tour which lasted about 1.5 hours. Dave was very knowledgeable and passionate about improving and maintaining the ghost town for future generations. $10.00 per person was a very reasonable price for such a great tour. T-shirts and coffee mugs also very reasonable costs. We visited with truck and travel trailer.

Other reviewers have done a great job of describing this utterly remarkable place as well as the intimacy and heart of the tour. There is also the wonderful story of the family responsible for preserving, protecting, and sharing the story of this town since they bought it in 1935 which is altogether unique and worth one’s time. It is easy to drive right on past something this wonderful, but I advise you not do that. We’re really grateful this exists out there in the world and will think of it often.

We found out about this Ghost Town through Harvest Host Camping program. We got a tour of the Town and spent the night in our RV in their parking lot. It’s a very informative tour by the owner telling you if it’s long history. Oldest building still standing today was built in 1854 ! We you first drive in it don’t seem like much but each building had its own really interesting history. They still have a lot of artifacts of all kinds on display and out in the buildings. It’s about a 1/4 mile decent graded dirt/gravel road off the pavement but easily accessible for RV’s of all sizes. Really long RV’s might have to un hook your Tow vehicle to get turned around depending on other RV’s there possibly. Only a couple miles south of the 10 and definitely if you like Ghost Towns /Old History you need check it out. It was $10 a person for about a 1 1/2 guided tour.

We stopped at this ghost town for a break during our long drive back to Texas. What a wonderful surprise! As we were the only guests there at the time, the owner took us on our own personal tour and spent tons of time recounting true stories from the old western town and making it come to life. There are still many buildings you can actually go inside. We were absolutely thrilled with our experience and think it should be a destination. Visit this place and help put Shakespeare back on the map!

Worth the short drive off I-10 to enjoy the tour about the history of Shakespeare ghost town. The family is all very nice and ambitious, working hard to keep the place alive by restoring the old buildings and retaining all the artifacts from the old town. Make the short walk to the top of Main Street to get the full feel of the townsite.

10/10! One of the cooler ghost towns in the Southwest! Shakespeare ghost town is only about 2-3 miles south of I-10 and is definitely worth a stop. The tour is excellent and led by the friendly family who owns the property; the family ownership dates back nearly a hundred years. They have a hotel, blacksmith shed with a working forge, a powder keg vault, assayer office and more! They did Indoor hangings inside one of the buildings since the trees weren’t big enough. Super cool and a great value for the price! Highly recommended!
