Visit Early

Great for seeing a bit of history and doing some shopping. The stores close early (by 5 pm) so be sure to go before then.

I took my Mother and her two sisters to Mesilla this last weekend. Have been wanting to do this a long time since my great, great Grandmother was born there in 1858. It was a long drive to El Paso from Houston, but then Mesilla was only another 45 miles or so. It was a wonderful little town. The old... More

We arrived just as everyone was getting there for church, so it was bustling and lively. There was an arts and crafts market set up in the plaza which was an added bonus. Lots of amazing restaurants and eateries. Don't miss Emilia's on the Plaza. Great coffee and Posole. We shopped and spent a couple of hours there. It's definitely... More

Shops were Great! People were friendly and service was top notch! Double Eagle (I think that was the name) had a fantastic steak dinner!

some people may think this is just the typical tourist place. IT IS NOT. What makes it different is the San Albino church ( now a basilica) and the old houses around the church. You get a look and feel of where the craftsman live and work.

What a beautiful village, the lovely building and the craft shops selling quality hand made clothing and jewellery. The San Albino church is an architectural gem, I would have loved to see inside unfortunately it was closed the day we visited. The Village has a town square as it's centre a lovely grass area for relaxing or to let children... More

Check out La Posta restaurant for Mexican food, the Double Eagle for an eye-popping bar, and the courthouse where Billy the Kid was tried. And the little bookshop is quirky and charming.

Basically enjoyed the visit to this town to see early architecture, but slightly disappointed. A few shops but mostly touristy, two wineries and a walk around a quaint old town. La Posta is the restaurant to stop in if you have the time.
