About
Jemez Hot Springs, a "Mountain Tropical" Day Resort, is located at the site of the earliest Bath House in the Jemez Springs area. Before that, the mineral water was used by the Native Americans of the area. Our water comes from deep beneath the Valles Caldera (ancient volcano) up the mountain. The four pools contain an ancient sea water abundant with a relaxing and therapeutic blend of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, silica, sodium and more. The source is 142 degrees F, but the pools are kept at a comfortable 102-104 degrees. The water is natural, and no chlorine or chemicals are added. We use ultraviolet light, ionizers and an oxygen inversions system to disinfect the water, and they are flow-through pools, so the water changes out regularly. Swim suits are required, children 14 and over are welcome, and for the comfort of our guests. Reservations are not required.

Our nightly rate included a two-hour soak in the spring-fed pools each day. There are 4 pools of various sizes and temperatures, which can change slightly as more hot spring water is piped in. As you relax in the soothing water, you can hear the flow of the Jemez River right next to the property. You can see all kinds of birds feeding on the sunflowers and other plants around the pools. Our cabin was very comfortable, and we appreciated having a kitchen because Jemez Springs is a small town with few restaurants (only one open for breakfast). The cabin was stocked with coffee and a Keurig machine. We only saw one employee here, a guy named Brian who took care of everything for us. He deserves a raise. The area is dark at night, with a stunning night sky. Highly recommended.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 October 2023
- Fidelis O1 contributionPerfectionNestled in a canyon, in a very small town everything is within walking distance. Staying in the cabin was great for decompressing. No TV, no outside noise, and dark skies. Restaurants are 1-3 blocks away. Waking up and hitting the pools at 10am opening was awesome! (Spring morning air temp in the 40’s) The hot springs were awesome. No giant swimming pool with kids running around. Instead, pools of varied sizes and temperatures next to the Jemez River. There’s shade provided by awnings and plenty of seating area. Everything was clean. The layout also has more privacy - in that the sight lines between the pools are blocked. My (new) favorite hot spring.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 March 2024
- kirstine2013Albuquerque, New Mexico787 contributionsGreat place to relax, reflect and enjoyPerfect gem of a place to rest and relax in the heated spa waters. We stayed in one of the cabins and couldn't have been happier with the comfortable, quiet, well equipped and nicely decorated cabin. The fact that we were also given 2 complimentary hours in the spa with our booking, was a wonderful treat. The staff were friendly and we loved the tasteful spiritual touches added to the various pools that made this place such a great place for personal reflection.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 May 2024
- Joe BSeattle, Washington8 contributionsJemez Hot Springs should be on your list! The staff and facilities are excellent. The outward appearance is deceptive to the charm and character of the rooms. These are simply furnished and served our party of three well. If I had the chance, I would gladly return again. A spot not to be misssed.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 June 2024

We rent the Red Mesa Cabin for a night. The stay included 2 hour soak in hot pools. We split that time between first day in the afternoon and second day in the morning before we left. The place was relatively empty so I think we probably could have spent more time in the pools if we asked. Cabin looks recently remodeled and has really nice southwest ambience. It has a separate bedroom and little kitchen area. Area around the pools is very well maintained and has some tranquility to it. The young lady who was in charge of this place was very nice and attentive. Walking distance from the hot springs there is pretty good restaurant, so we did not have to drive to get the dinner.

This little gem near is a fabulous day trip from ABQ or Santa Fe, the staff and guests are always so friendly we always meet new people from all over the world when we visit. They have delicious healthy beverages ( wish they had food, but we always hop over to the Saloon across the street for lunch or dinner, or an after soak cocktail. They only allow 20-30 people at a time and no reservations. However it's never crowded during the week, and we only had to wait a half hour on a very busy weekend one time of the many we have gone.
They have rental towels in case you forgot yours that are nice and fluffy.
And hour is great sometimes we do two, the springs are perfect and they have several pools at varying Temps, lots of places to relax, and you can hear the river running all around the property.
We enjoy it in the summer and even when there's snow.

Stopped on a Saturday. Chose to only do and hour and glad we did. Being a warm day it was very difficult to stay in the hot springs very long as you started to get over heated. But the springs are great. Very warm and the showers are nice and big so changing is easy. They do rent towels so you do bot need to bring your own. Bathrooms very clean. The entire hot springs are clean and very pleasant. Bring water or cold drinks.

The Pictures are Much nicer than the actual Springs. The changing booths need regular height seats with hooks to hang ones clothing, etc. when changing. Also, the flowers and bushes needed to be taken care of. Most important is that railing need to be installed for safety when entering and exiting the pools.
On the plus side was that the bathrooms were clean, the staff was nice and the prices are reasonable.

The front office staff was very late, totally and completely rude and unprofessional. The girl that was checking and people did not tell us about their waiting time until we ask. And then told us that we had to wait in the heat for at least 30 minutes before being able to get in. I told my husband well …that is gonna be a problem and then she said to me; well is that gonna be a problem?
I just thought who is talking to her? But because she was so rude and asked me that I said well yes it is gonna be a problem. It is actually freaking hot outside. After her comment, we just scratch our names and left the premises. If that is the service in the front office, I can’t imagine the service inside. We went to another mineral water pools and it was a great day for us in another location. . I honestly just wonder what the front office people think when they are dealing with customers who do they think they are? They have no freaking clue about customer service. They are rude and entitled . They just think that they can say whatever to customers and get away with it. Well, I’ll choose who I give my business to, and hence, I chose to leave.
Owner: choose people that are customer service oriented, with perhaps hospitality industry experience and train them to speak properly to visitors.

Things to improve: Give a 1.5 hr option, seats in the changing rms, more than a trickle of cold water in the shower.
This is a pleasant venue, w/ a lovely setting. JSH is an updated, more contemporary version of the Jemez hot spring experience. Not as rooted in the decades-long soaking life here, yet more palatable to "modern" folk putting their feet in the water, for the 1st time or otherwise.. Jemez Spgs is an authentic NM destination, for those who want to tap in the timeless. Enjoy

Wonderful out of the way place for a nice relaxing mineral soak. Within 1 to 1 1/2 hours from Albuquerque. If your traveling to Los Alamos and Bandolier National Monument this is a great place to go after long day of hiking, walking, driving. Great site seeing road through the mountains.

Beautiful location particularly after snow fall. There are 4 pools which are located beside the stream - different temperatures. These are natural hot springs and the water is soft and full of minerals. Very mild sulphur smell. This is a gem in the mountains - no reservations and a limit of 30 people at any time makes it even ore special. Not to be missed despite fairly basic changing facilities and one small shower room. Just go prepared, skip the shower and relax!

We had a wonderful time at this hot springs. We were able to rent one of the cabins on the property, which made it so easy to wander the short walk to the springs. There were four pools all different temperatures and depths. It was February so not very crowded. The property was very clean. The staff was so accommodating and friendly. We soaked three days in a row!

What is the temperature of the pools now (Sept 2018)?
Written 3 September 2018
I think they remain the same throughout the year. The can control the temperature. there were 4 temperatures but I don't recall what they were, hot, warm, cool
Written 3 September 2018
No -but there is one down the road (a town hot springs maybe) that is much less posh (less expensive also) where apparently you have a bsthtub type thing in your own private area. We didn’t do that one. Jemez is teeny so you won’t have trouble being directed to either one. Giggling Springs was a highlight for us-we had no idea what to expect but it was not crowded at all and so relaxing.

Is there an age restriction? My boyfriend and I would love to go. I am 18, and he is 17...would that be okay?
Written 19 January 2016
As far as I can remember, there were no age restrictions. I recommend that you contact Giggling Springs directly with your question.
