We were in the area so we stopped to check out the Soda Dam. It is right on the highway so there is not much walking required to see. It is worth stopping but I would not out of my way to see it.

This was a short but quick stop along the beautiful cruse on Route 4. Nothing much more than a small dam, water falls or dam overflow and neat rock geology.

A nice example of ongoing geologic processes. Here you can actualy feel (smell and touch) the volcanic aktivity. If you drive along, you should definitly stop there for a short view.

A wonderful place to enjoy the water and the wonderful scents of nature. Watch the brave souls who climb over the rocks and slide down into the water.

Our family will stop here every time we go up to Los Alamos from Albuquerque. The kids can spend several hours playing in the water (on the other side of the dam, you will have to walk up and over the rocks to get there)....More

Soda Dam is a geologic wonder formed by thousands of years of mineral deposit from a hot spring. It is easily accessible, right along Highway 4, but take care as it can be easily missed. The Soda Dam Historical Marker is located about 36 miles...More
