This well maintained, though relatively short, section of trail is pretty unique in that much of it is really on a cat walk built into the side of the canyon with Whitewater creek running underneath. A non-maintained trail actually continues on up into the Gila...More

They really have fixed up the Catwalk Trail. Would be nicer if they continued it up farther; you have to cross the creek and get wet if you want to go up farther. You can hike back down on the other side, the older part...More

Very interesting place. At the end of the refurbished trail, you can continue on if you are a good hiker. The continued trail is partially washed out and requires some steep hiking and rock scrambling. I would suggest you bring water shoes of some time,...More

I am not sure if I had visited here before, or I have been to a very similar place. Due to a big storm the metal catwalk does not go as far a it used to. On a less windy day, it would be a...More

This is a rather sheltered area and a number of picnic tables are available right near the entrance. It's a fairly easy hike up the path before the catwalk begins. Nice water flowing sounds. I suspect it could be nice and cool during warmer weather....More

If you cross the bridge and take the paved trail up it a very easy hike. If you continue straight and use the old CCC trail it's still an easy hike but does have some loose rock. Either way, or as I did, going up...More

I had been looking forward to hike the catwalk trail for weeks. Unfortunately, the experience was somewhat affected by the many mosquitoes - super annoying. The trail is really nice, but we got the impression that the damages from the last flash flood aren't still...More

Stopped there on our way to Silver City - wished we had allowed more time to hike beyond the amazing catwalk structure. Very scenic. Went the week before christmas and we were the only ones there.

The hike is a 1/2 a mile in and a 1/2 a mile out. They have a few resting benches along the way, where you can stop and take in the scenery. There's also a water hole where you can stop for a dip in the fresh stream water or... More
