We stopped by the catwalk trail on our way from Deming NM to the Grand Canyon and were really glad we did! It is an amazing engineering feat with (very sturdy!) metal catwalks up through a canyon with plenty of running water to enjoy. It is historical, as it was originally used for diverting water to help process ore from... More

This 1.1 mile trail thru the White Water Canyon is recovering from a large wildfire and then the resulting flood that destroyed the historic elevated trail that hung from the cliff side where an old mill in the late 1890's first added a structure to the area where the Indian Chief Geronimo used to avoid capture from the US Army.... On a sunny, March afternoon our two couples were alone in the parking lot and on the Catwalk. The Catwalk is just that, a suspended walkway meandering along a portion of the Gila River. Spectacular views and a sense of floating above the water all while being mesmerized by the sound of rushing water. The Catwalk represents an ingenious recreation... More

Wish I had called ranger station! The road was flooded and after a 4 hour drive I had to turn back! : (

The part of the trail that was open was nice. I wish that the rest of the trail had been fixed so that I could have seen where my husband used to hike as a child.

The Catwalk provides an exceptional view of an amazing canyon. During winter and spring you might want to stop by or call the Glenwood Ranger station to see if the road is passable. Sometimes the river floods and cannot be forded.

Easy hike along the canyon walls. A must see and an interesting history lesson about early mining. Early morning in the warmer months.

Wheel chair accessable walk now open. Easy stroll from the parking area into the canyon. This is worth the drive from whereever you are.

We were there in July and it was our first time. We absolutely loved it. This time we were there and brought some friends with us. The bugs were thick. Didn't spoil it, but it made it hard to enjoy. We definitely will be back.

I love going to the catwalk. The history, the view, the creek, and now a paved parking lot, handicapped access, newer catwalk, and a bathroom. Such a country! I used to go there quite often as a child and young adult. Unfortunately, quite a few years ago a very large flood had devastated much of the trail. Since that time... More
