Arrived with only 30 minutes to spare but what a great museum! The pottery section alone was worth the visit. We obviously didn’t get to see everything, but will definitely be back to spend more time. Highly recommend!!!

A little hidden gem in a small town of Deming.

The town is very sad looking but this museum rocks!! First, you see an awesome tank in front of the building. Then the place inside goes on and on. So much stuff to see. You definitely need at least an hour to walk through it.

Free admission and donation is highly recommended. Please keep this place open, you can judge it yourself when you swing by there. Staff is very friendly and kids can learn so much from this place.

Wow!!! So much to see. We didn’t even get to half of it. Would have been neat if there had been some interactive exhibits (kids ages 14, 12, and 6). Most things were really well labeled.

This local history museum is so large you could spend days here looking at the exhibits. There are 3 floors here with a small outside area that has old farm machinery. All of the exhibits are well lighted & have good descriptions. Also, admission is free. If you are in Deming, you need to come here.

Allow yourself at least a couple hours . The place just keeps going and going. Many interesting exhibits. Above average smaller town museum. And it is free. (Donations accepted)

This place is huge. A fellow at the counter gave me a map of the museum so we could find our way around. The museum is on two floors and has numerous rooms. There large displays of Indian pottery and minerals. They had an impressive doll collection. They had some nice western art. I was surprised to see a Charlie Russell painting. Their Military Room was extensive. It covered everything from the Civil War to modern conflicts. In the area covering local history, there was one wall that was built to look like a series of individual shops. Each one had the name of a local store. On display were items that had to do with that store. They had a railroad display, a Harvey House exhibit, old fire engines. There was more upstairs. They had a quilt and lace display, an old school house, a Hispanic room. It was a most impressive museum.

I learned of this venue via this TripAdvisor website. It had a well-deserved #1 rating as a Deming attraction.

This is one of the best museums I've visited and for a small town, it's an incredible museum. It has various rooms that cover everything from dolls to American Indian culture to cowboys, to old time jails. There even used to be some history on Mexicans working here when it was legal. It was a great display and one of my favorites. There's mugs, a geological room, pottery, wagons, a hearse, china, quilts, just a plethora of wonderful history.

Did not expect a museum of this caliber! When we entered we assumed it was a small museum and continued to walk and discover absolutely amazing displays. We spent three hours on our first day and went back and spent another hour on another day. Such well laid out displays and what a tremendous variety! Hats off to the small town historical society. Highly recommend!
