The Trestle area has a wonderfully maintained restroom facility and trails in this area. They have a camp host at the trailhead that has been hosting for the last six years. The place is so clean and the trails are beautiful.

Beautiful scenery, well maintained paths and not too long of hikes for those who only want to hike a little bit.

Even if you are not a railroad buff (which I am not), this is an interesting hike, or rather, system of hiking trails. Nice views, well-maintained trails, an interesting ruins and plaques explaining them. Quite a job getting trains up and over the pass here!...More

My husband and I spent some time in the Trestle recreation area (rebuilt depot building) in Cloudcroft. We took the fastest route about 2 miles round trip (in and out) using Trail T5001B to T5001 to the old trestle. There are a few trails in...More

This was a great place to stop and stretch our legs. Views are beautiful and the weather is so gorgeous. Can I also just say that the bathrooms are immaculate and don't smell, that is such an added bonus considering they're basically outhouses. Next time...More

Cloudcroft is a tiny getaway in the mountains above Alamogordo. Considering that there are no large cities nearby (El Paso is a couple hours), it's no surprise that this town doesn't have more to do. Yet, it's quaint and worth a few hours unless you...More

yes, I believe so. If you look at the Google maps satellite view, you'll see some elongated parallel parking areas in the picnic area, which I assume you can use when hiking the trails. If these are taken, it isn't far to... More

There are no campgrounds at the Trestle recreation area, but there are many others in Cloudcroft with great hiking too.
