This museum used to be a church in which many, many young people from Eastern Colorado were married at, including my parents. I thought it was still a church when we were passing through and hoped we could peek in but to our surprise it is a fantastic museum! Very nice people, well run, absolutely lovely setting, was able to... More

interesting place and an unlikely story for this part of the country. The woman that runs it is really on the ball and a great community asset. On of those places you would not expect to find in a place like Clayton. But there seem to be a number of interesting pieces to the town. Love to stop there.

Interesting assortment of area history and historical materials. Worth the stop on a trip to "Smell the Roses" and learn something of old NE NM. Off the highway.

A very concise collection of Dust Bowl and Old West artifacts, sensibly and professionally displayed. We had the facility to ourselves the day we visited and were treated to a tour by Victoria, the very kind and dedicated director. Clearly this is a labor of love for the Clayton community. The museum contains many treasured practical possessions and sentimental heirlooms... More

We visited while vacationing near Clayton NM. It is located in an old church downtown. We were greeted by a very kind and helpful lady who obviously cares for the museum and town in general. She is an excellent ambassador for the community. The collection is varied and some items unique and unusual. There is not an admission charge so... More

It may be somewhat unassuming from the outside, but this museum has a lot of info and exhibits from this town and the general area. It was very much a part of the "Wild West" era, and was also greatly affected by the Dust Bowl disaster during the Great Recession of the 1930s, and there are lots of displays here... More

My Sister in Laws and I went to the Museum for their revealing of the footage they obtained that contained orbs. It was fun. We watched footage and listened to experiences that the workers and volunteers have had, then we went, in the dark, down where some orbs have been sited. We had a blast!

We visited this museum due to our interest in the Dust Bowl and the Herzsteins' role in the book 'The Worst Hard Time,' which we had recently read. When we first arrived at the museum, we were a little uncertain as to where to begin. We followed signs pointing us upstairs, but it was a few minutes before we saw... More

Interesting collection of history and trinkets. I would recommend ask for the tour, and be sure to ask about ghost stories.
