Love this weaving shop but can’t figure out when they’re open. They were supposed to be opened today at 10 am, but they were closed. We had planned on buying sets of placemats for gifts. Best to call rather than hope they are open. Also, note that the gift shop is a separate business and doesn’t sell the woven goods. Trip Advisor has the two as one business.

This was on our list of places to see in Chimayo, the rugs were absolutely beautiful. I wanted to come home with something, ended up buying some weaved coasters, I admire them everyday.

Great Staff. Beautiful store that has everything for the budget, from $14 wall hangings to $500 plus rugs. If you are into a South West motif for your home, a great way to add to your decor. Nice website as well. Chimayo has other attractions as well

It was fun and informative to view old looms that are still used to create beautiful weavings. Wall hangings, clothing, etc. take the time to visit all the rooms to learn more about the history of the Ortega's and the Chimayo area.
Love our wall hanging that we purchased from the Ortega's shop!

Nine generations of weaving! Really nice quality & good prices as compared to other weaving shops in the area (we've visited them all, but have only bought from Ortega's). They have more sizes of rugs & other similar weavings than the others & will take a custom order for certain colors at no extra charge. They also have more than one style of vests & coats (both men's & women's), & of purses & other accessories. The staff all seem to be very knowledgeable too. If you are in the market for a high quality woven item, it is definitely worth your time to check Ortega's out.

Chimayo is a tiny, country village, unexpectedly filled with choice attractions. At the heart of the small commercial area is Ortega's Weaving Gallery, well worth an impulsive pull over. Local fiber arts and Native ceramics are displayed for purchase in one of the tidiest retail spaces I've ever seen. Even the stark restrooms are impressively inviting. Consider the woolen jackets and vests if you want a souvenir of the community more practical than the typical folk art.

This shop is well known for its beautiful hand made items. I bought a beautiful purse there and have had so many compliments on it. Wish I could have brought home more items. What a nice shop. And sometimes you can watch a weaving demonstration.

You will find a very large selection of beautiful and authentic "Chimayo weavings" at Ortega's Weaving Shop. You may even find one of the weavers on the loom during your visit. If weavings are not your thing, you may enjoy their selection of jewelry and a few other gift items. Definitely worth a stop during your visit to historic Chimayo, NM. Note: closed on Sundays.

You can actually watch the weaver creating a masterpiece. There are different sizes, colors & patterns to choose from in a very relaxed atmosphere. No pressure to purchase. It's just a short drive from Santa Fe & well worth the ride.
