Firsly, I would like to say that we had the most wonderful trip in Bhutan and we enjoyed every minute of it until we arrived in Kurje Lhakhang which I have to say looks a very impresive set of temples. However, we couldn't think about the beautiful stautes and holy objects because outside in the grounds we were confronted with 3 or 4 dead puppies being eaten by their remaining (barely alive) brothers and sisters. They clearly died of starvation and it looked like the other puppies would soon follow in their demise. It was difficult understand on one side the opulance and holiness of the temples with this pittifull scene with noone caring to give even a bowlfull of rice. We gave the biscuits we had to the puppies and their mother, but they need regular food. If anyone from Kurje Lhakhang reads this review please take care of the dogs in your compound. Om mani padme hum.

This temple the place where Guru Rinpoche left his bodily imprint, is wonderful to visit, there are actually two temples connected. I really enjoyed being the only tourist there, what more the place is a treasure if you like to slowly go through a place and get some fantastic photos.
When admitted in the temple, I was allowed to pray time for the guardian was no issue, in Bumthang this is not to be missed.

After seeing many impressive temples or Dzongs, this temple still impressed me. Bhutan is really a mystical country. There are places with more impressive waterfalls or more majestic mountains but in terms of mystical, there is no other places that can be compared to Bhutan. As for holy water, there are many other places in Bhutan where the water is considered holy.

We almost didn't make it because of a sudden shower: be prepared for those! But it was wonderful to go into this ancient temple, sacred to the founder of Buddhism in Bhutan. The serene, almost magical atmosphere typical of Buddhist temples, the beautiful idols of the three Buddhas, the painted scenes telling Buddhist stories, it was all quite enchanting.

A peaceful location … a holy place where the body impression of Guru Ringpoche could be seen. We’ve spend couple of hours in and around the Lakhang (temple) – it offers great view of Tamshing Lakhang that is located on the other side of the river.
We’ve just walked a few hundred meters at the river bed and it’s a lovely place !!!! crystal clear water… blue sky…. Lush green riverbank and away from touristy activities …… wonderful place to just relax.

Within walking distance from Jamsey temple. Actually there are three temples connected with each other; the very last one has Guru Rinpoche's body imprinted into the rock but it was difficult to make the shape out due to the area being covered with scarves (used as an offering in Bhutan). Once could walk here from Jakar town and make it a great half day hike.

Kurjey Lhakhang is a very interesting place to visit. We walked from Jambay Lhakang (worth visiting, too) to Kurjey through farm land and it was a beautiful little walk. Behind Kurjey Lhakhang there is also a holy spring with pure water and is worth visiting and filling up your water bottles, too.

Hi, We were in Bhutan for 14 days in Jan 2018.
Two nights are sufficient in most places. But if you could spend more, then it should be in Phobjika Valley. We fell in love with the energy in that valley! Don't miss the 4Km trek through the forest, look out for the black neck cranes; and try the local speciality - spice coated potato wedges, it's so tasty.
The other place you shouldn't miss is the Tang valley near Bhumtang. Our guide packed picnic lunch for us, but before the lunch, we walked through the sleepy village and then visited Ogyen Chholing Museum, a must see!
If you are interested in textiles, go beyond Bhumtang to Mongar and Khoma, you will love it.
Leave Tiger's nest to the last, by then you will be adjusted to the higher altitude.
It's cooler in Dec, carry warm clothing and a good pair trekking boots.
