Usually a spa or wellness center would be relaxing. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case at the Mango Bay Wellness Center. It’s complicated. Doing my taxes is simpler. I rather guide traffic through the jungle than try to book a massage at this resort. It’s a complete goose chase and none of the staff seem to want to make you feel welcome. Nobody speaks any English or has regard for those visiting the resort.

Poor management. Avoid at all costs.

Between my girlfriend and I, we have 5 university degrees. Unfortunately, this was not sufficient to outwit the Mango Bay Wellness Center's reservation system.

We called the spa number (listed on their website) to book an appointment. The receptionist sounded confused, and then said she would text us another number to call. We then called this second number, to inquire about the Spa Menu (and associated pricing structure). She asked for our email address, yet the Spa Menu was never sent. We called a second time (to the second 'real' phone number) and attempted to book an appointment time. We were directed to "show up" to the resort in order to book an appointment. Curious.

And so, we arrived at Mango Bay Resort and checked in at Reception. We were greeted coldly, completely differently than the traditional Vietnamese hospitality that we are accustomed to on Phu Quoc. They directed us to the Mango Bay Wellness Centre.

The Wellness Centre was a good walk from Reception - over a bridge, through the tall grass - it was almost like an episode of Dora The Explorer. As a side note - Mango Bay Resort has the feeling of summer sleep-away camp - very unkempt grounds, long grass everywhere, very "rustic".

Arriving at the Mango Bay Wellness Centre, we checked in. She directed us to Reception. We indicated we were just at Reception. She again indicated Reception. Apparently you have to pay for the spa treatment at Reception.

So we walked back through the tall grass, over the bridge, to the Reception! Yet none of the cold staff was present, so we decided to head to the beach to hop into the ocean quickly to cool off. The moment we placed our things on a lounger, a staff member emerged from the woods - and literally chased us down. This was the most engaged the entire staff had been during our Mango Bay Resort experience thus far, and we were rather excited. However, it was readily apparent he was there to shoo us away from the loungers - "for guest only" (he didn't have a sound grasp of singular versus plural). We tried to explain that we were there to utilize the spa and also to dine at the Mango Bay Restaurant, alas, he was not in "listening mode", he was transmitting only. We gathered our things and left Summer Camp.

In the final analysis, we almost booked at Mango Bay based on the reviews and excellent online marketing strategy. However, our brief experience at Mango Bay was abhorrent. What promised to be a relaxing day at the spa followed by sunset supper ended up being a terrible experience.

Avoid this establishment. Terrible customer service - and we are both very well-travelled throughout Asia. This is really a Management issue that needs to be rectified. Leadership starts from the top and percolates down through the staff. Evidently the staff aren't getting it, and need a bit of a steer by the leadership in order to properly support the mission and or/vision that Mango Bay is attempting to attain. Lots of work to do.

We didn’t live in mango bay hotel, but decided to have a massage in their spa zone. It’s just a small cottage, not really clean, not much difference comparing with massage salons in the village. No hair caps, no slippers, no feet wash before massage. But I was really shocked when the massagist became to touch my hair and face without washing her hands from oil and straight after massaging my not washed feet

We didn't stay at the resort but came here for dinners and spa.
The restaurant is facing the ocean and has an amazing view. Food was also great although it was on the more expensive side for a Vietnamese standard.
The spa, however, was not up to the resort standard. We had the signature massage in a hut on the property ground with a beach view but the massage felt like the masseuse had no idea what she was saying. My friend said the same thing and it was probably the worst massage I've ever had. For 30 USD I would never try this place again.

Dear guest. I would like to thank you for writing your feedback, I am really sorry that our wellness center doesn't meet your standard. However, your unsatisfied experience could be avoided if you have communicated your concerns to me before your massage as my staff couldn't understand english well. My staff were properly trained, and we do have a regular training every low season, perhaps you've asked something from them, then my staff were confused. Again am sorry for the disatisfaction. I hope you will still give us a chance by trying another spa service in the future.

We stayed at Mango Bay for 4 nights and had a relaxing break. Whilst my husband went to play golf on the island I had a hot stone massage for 60 minutes and then a wellbeing foot pedicure. They were both amazing and I would certainly recommend going there. So peaceful listening to the nearby sea. I had the fruit basket and tea after which was a nice addition.

We had the 50minutes aromatherapy massage during happy hour (10am - 2pm). It was just bliss. The setting is beautiful, massage was relaxing and the whole affair was very professional.

I had an amazing aromatherapy massage during happy hour at the wellness centre today! It was sooo relaxing and very professional. It was in a lovely setting with the waves crashing in the background. As soon as you step in your treated like a queen and even after your treatment, you have tea and exotic fruits with the beach steps away from you! This was the best massage I've ever had and my partner had the hot stone massage and said the same!

Mango Bay Resort in general is an absolute pleasure, and the signature massage was outstanding. My lower back pain vanished after a really good stretch and muscles felt nicely tenderised.
25% discount 10:00-14:00 weekdays makes this an absolute snip, well worth full price if you can't make these times. Warm, scented oils, fresh fruit and green tea included, soothing ocean waves free of charge too!

Me and my boyfriend had both an aromatherapy massage witch was the best during our holiday in Vietnam. At first you can choose one of ca. 5 flavors for your massage. The quality of the massage and the skills of our therapists were very good. After our massage we got green tea and some fruits witch we found was also a great service. So the high price is justified.
