Goop place, with decent equipment and good guide. Expect 1,500 pesos / dive + 250 pesos for Nitrox (not cheap). Use of a fast boat to go on the sites. USS New York dive is a must. The staff is friendly and capable. Only water is provided on the boat, for this price a coffee or tea + cookies would have been well appreciated !

Took a dive certification at Johan's recently and it wasn't a good experience.
From the email communication at arranging/scheduling the dive certification to the dives itself. Yes, you can't beat the price at Johan's, but I'm happy to pay a little bit more for the feeling of security and safety.

A most enjoyable and worthwhile visit, the dive school offers a remarkable number of sites to dive a lot of the however are unrecorded as Johan likes to protect what he has disordered.
I would happily revisit to continue to explore Subic Bay with the team as I found it enlightening, safe and very satisfying. John's offers dives for the beginner to the more advanced divers amongst us, if you get the opportunity
lease visit, you will not be disappointed.

I wanted to dive while visiting a friend that lives in Olongapo. He doesn't dive but he remembered Johan's was across the street from a place he once stayed. I went the day before I wanted to dive to see what was available and looked forward to doing some wreck diving. I was told it would 1000 Pesos since I had my own gear, except a BCD. I agreed and scheduled to dive the next day.The next day I gave the divemaster my regulator with a DIN adapter connected, they set up the rigs and I went to breakfast. When I returned they had returned my adapter saying it was not needed. I put it in my bag and got geared up and it was recommended that i wear a wetsuit and I agreed to rent one. After the dives the divemaster told me that since I rented the BCD and wetsuit it would be 2000 Pesos! Two days later I went on another dive in Malapasqua and when I needed my DIN adapter I realized they had switched mine for an inferior adapter. I wondered if it could have been a mistake but there were only two other divers that day and they were renting full equipment. There was no reason for the shop to give me any other adapter unless it was intentional. I was ripped off twice. First the stolen adapter then the overcharging for diving. Never again. If you decide to use this shop be aware that they may try to overcharge you and keep an eye on your equipment!

I am a paying customer, i expect to be treated atleast decently. But you cant get that in this resort, the Service is terrible, staff are arrogant. They will frown, make faces and sarcasticaly answer your queries. Waited for decades for our food and other requests. No TV, the one in the room is just for display. When theres no available cablebox, SORRY for us. No effOrt on their part to makeup for it, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THEY HAVE CONFIRMED EARLIER THAT THE BOX IS AVAILABLE. If you want to ruin your vacation THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO.

I traveled to Olongapo from Manila with a friends. The trip was terrific. I loved the hotel and the food was excellent. The beach, the water, the people, the village -- what a trip.

The guys are Johan’s were very relaxed – just turn up in the morning and see what’s going on – they will arrange something for you! No need to book and there were no pre-set dives. It was more a general discussion on the boat as to where you wanted to dive. Very relaxed.
The staff seemed very capable and knowledgeable. All the usual safety stuff you would expect was covered/provided. Customers were well looked after, with gear being carried for you, etc...
Diving in Subic Bay is pretty awesome – it is a deep water port, so you get to see some of the big tankers up close and personal. It was just surreal to see all those tankers just sitting in the bay. The bay has been the site of some serious warfare, notably in WW2 when it was invaded by both the Japanese and the Americans. The result is some excellent wreck diving – real wrecks, not scuttled barges. Expect to see deck guns, torpedo damage and more! Conditions are not picture perfect – visibility can sometimes be low, and currents exist, although the staff were pretty good at predicting the best places to go to make the most of vis. and the tides. Even when the weather closes in, though, the it stays warm and the water temperature is beautiful!
Subic Bay has wrecks in all depth ranges, to suit all levels of experience. There is a genuine history about the place, which is almost as interesting as the diving itself! Johanssens provided a good balance of safety and relaxation. I would highly recommend them as an option for Subic Bay diving!

My wife and i stayed at Johans Beach and dive resort for a short vacation the online description seemed decent so we booked a 4 day stay ,arriving we were quite disappointed , the outside looked like it needed a new coat of paint, quite different from the bright pictures featured online, the lounge was some old living room furniture not real homey,,,, as we were led to our beach bungalow i noticed quite a few signs for no outside food allowed and no smoking , but plenty ofpeople were smoking even workers. The inside of the bungalow smelled and the floor was dirty covered by some worn rugs, the bathroom was small and the sin was hanging off the wall, their was a decent size safe to lock up your valuables and a real nice smart tv that had Netflix and you tube, the view was ok ,obstructed by metal poles so not a real clear view,
We we also under the impression that they had 24 restaurant as it said online and. That’s not true they usually close the doors about 12 am and dont open for breakfast until the cook gets up, the menu is vast many choices but a lot of stuff was out of stock including Bangus all 4 days we were there.the staff didn’t smile much and only interacted when we had a complaint,,
I dont think we will be back the cost of food alone for the day will total more than your room...

Wtf. Chinese tourists' complaints from their service water allegedly leading to upset stomachs supersedes NATIONAL LAW and sovereignty. What cowards and nonsense. You can get upset stomach from anything you ate in subic or from jetlagged. And now eating breakfast, they don't offer free service water because of a few complaints. This is ridiculous. I came here with wife last night for beer and billiards and had a great time. They need to correct this new policy and stand up for the national law. I had them serve me a glass of service water their employees drink so that I don't have to file a complaint with the DTI and DOT.
