I spent four days in Berastagi waiting for the clouds to clear to see the volcano, Sinabung... And eventually they did, and Gundaling Hill was a wonderful place to observe it from, and a beautiful place to hike and explore in itself.

Most visitors to Berastagi will climb Gundaling Hill, only 30 minutes from the town center. At the top you will have a clear view of the two volcanoes, but the place is relly ruined a little with so many souvenir shops and cafes. Good to be here for sunset, if you are lucky with the weather --- we were not!

Very pleasant walk and views as going uphill. Best time is in the evening towards sunset time. Able to see 2 volcanoes peaks ( one was slight covered with clouds).

Nice photo ops everywhere, be sure to stop and take in the view. The drive can make people nauseous as it goes round and round in hairpin bends etc. Be sure to have plastic bags and medicine on standby if you have motion sickness,

Great views from the top of the 2 volcanos surrounding Berestagi, Mount Sinabung and Mount Sibayak.
Lots of places for photos from the top and 'professional' photographers ready to take your photo for a nominal sum.
Well worth a visit on a clear day.

Such a nice view from the hill. You can see Mount Sibayak from here.
There are a lot of paid photographer if you want a good photo at Rp. 25K per photo.
You can ride horse car or just a horse with reasonable price. I just take a photo with horse at Rp. 10K. Such a cold place. You can wear sweater while visit this place. Maybe the local authorities can improve on cleanliness of the place. Such a beautiful place but quite dirty for tourist attraction.

Small hill with view of mount sibayak- however the view is unremarkable. Can go a visit if you're around the area- but not worth going a trip specially to visit this hill.

Best place to visit if you or your group don't have the stamina or insufficient time to climb the Mount Sinabung or Mount Sibayak. Place not so clean due to the horse riding activity. Feel free to try the deliciou steamed groundnut. R4k entrance fee.
