The USS Liberty Wreck is the most famous dive site in Bali. It is also one of the best sunken ship wrecks in the world! If you come to Bali, you absolutely have to dive there The liberty ship was hit by a Japanese torpedo then was beached near Tulamben. In 1963, the eruption of Mount Agung caused the vessel to slip off the beach, and it now lies on a sand slope in 9 to 30 m of water. The wreck is about 130 m long with the shallowest part at about 5 m deep and the deepest on the other side of the wreck at about 30 m deep.

Go at sunrise to avoid the crowds. Huge Bonyhead Parrot Fish. Sublime views of the sunrise and clear water. Just a great place to dive and so easy as its all shore diving.

A large amount of tamed fish. Fill a PET bottle pieces of bread and slowly feed the fish - a great experience. The fish are not afraid.

Go dive early in the day (around 6am) to see giant parrot fish. The wreck is incredible and maybe require two dives to actually see it all.

I can always combine diving with holiday. The wreck isn't recognizable as a ship since it's been broken in many pieces. Interesting to visit. It is home to many sea creatures

Definitely try and do this dive site early in the morning. Can get a little crowded later in the day and the bump head wrasse are early risers. So much life and this wreck and so accessible from a very easy shore entry.

I managed to swim through the wreck with just a snorchel and fins but its better to train a bit before. Wonderful history reminder and beautiful fauna. In the afternoon, it is harder to find the wreck because of the sand - follow the scuba...More

Maybe I’m not the best person to review the USAT Liberty wreck dive, as this was my first wreck. HOWEVER, I absolutely loved it. My girlfriend was down for the count sick but wanted me to do the dive, so I got up in the...More
