This former government building, an architectural treasure in itself, is now a museum containing some impressive artifacts. Particularly noteworthy is a collection of late 18th and early 19th century Cape furniture.

The old landrost's house and other buildings are well preserved and interesting as Swellendam is reputedly the 3rd oldest urban district in South Africa. The visit gives a good 'taste' of life in those days

The museum provided that has been missing on our holiday; an explanation of the lives of the Dutch settlers. The level of information was just right. Not too heavy but informative enough.

Well preserved, with plenty photo opportunities outside. Now in spring the garden looks colourful with flowers in bloom.

We don't always "do history" in South Africa so we enjoyed the time walking around the Drostdy Museum's buildings. Although simply displayed the epic achievements of our forefathers is well documented. Recommend.

The museum was very interesting and the buildings played a critical role in the region's history. The buildings and grounds are generally in good condition but some of the displays need some attention. The cost is low. It is definitely worth an hour or two...More

Ok place to kill a couple of hours as there's not much else to do in the town. The cabinet making exhibition was very good as they had someone do demonstrations
