Beautiful Nature Setting

Quiet and tranquil. A great area for Birdwatching. A favourite for fishermen too. Get away from the rush and relax.

Walking by the vlei was relaxing but dissappointing. I expected to see birds nesting in the reeds. I wasnt able to see birds across the lake like I, had been able to at Rondevlei. They say you can swim there on thë "beach" at the lake, but I didnt find it attractive or tempting. It is fascinating that it is the only... Walk through ancient fynbos and trees in the dunes that line Groenvlei, taking the well-marked trail up the dunes to eventually have a panoramic view of the entire lake, sparkling in all its peaceful beauty. A genuine treat for nature lovers! There is a picnic table at the start of the trail.

Very pretty, tranquil and scenic. Good to spend a day relaxing around the water. But if your not fishing there is not much to do. Excellent for bird watching and so close to nature it can be breathtaking.

A lesser-known and therefore quiet spot between Sedgefield and Knysna. It's the only freshwater lake in the Garden Route lakes system and is home to bass. The dirt road past Groenvlei leads to a beautiful and mostly-deserted beach called Platbank. Even in the height of the summer season very few tourists find their way there. And it's dog-friendly!

This lake is a joy to behold. Hire a boat, or experience it by walking around its massive birth, or take in its glory by eating a meal at one of the two restaurants that are fortunate enough to be based on its borders. Any way you take it in, it is a must if you spend any time in... More

Great place to go bass fishing. Very peaceful and beautiful. Pick a calm day and head to the Groenvlei in the early morning. You can get a fishing licence in Knysna or in the little fishing shop in Sedgefield. You also need a boat licence if you have a boat.

A great place for a breakfast away from the crazy crowds when in season. The food is really good, lots of place for the kids to walk around. A bustling restaurant set outside in the most part in lovely gardens.

Privacy in a public place does not seem to flow, but this unique fresh water lake offers this to its visitors. Safe swimming, fishing, camping and even a Hotel in walking distance. Heaven
