The Sedgefield lagoon mouth is very picturesque with an abundance of wild life whether the tide is in or out. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Stunning beach, definitely worth a walk along at sunset, stay to watch the sunset dip behind the landscape, enjoy the warm water and the views, at night look up to see the Milky Way!

The Lagoon Mouth is a very nice picnic spot for couples and families. It is also a good place to swim and also for angling... We saw a number of locals fishing in the lake at the mouth of the lagoon. Carry your own snacks, mats and a beach umbrella. The beach was really windy in October and we had to select a spot slightly tucked into the lagoon mouth to avoid the wind...
Couple of natural tidal pools were an added attraction.

On the day we visited, the lagoon mouth had no direct access to the sea, but the local children had taken the initiative to swim in the channel which had been artificially created by earth moving equipment. Judging from the shouting and splashing, they were really enjoying themselves. We watched from the vantage point above the lagoon mouth and took in the wider vistas towards Gerike's Point ... such a scenic view!

The lagoon mouth is a great spot to take scenic photos. The beach is also beautiful and when the river mouth hasn't been pushed open the river is a nice a calm spot to have a swim and cool off a bit. It's not very far from the N2 so even if you are just passing through Sedgefield, it is worth a quick stop over to stretch your legs and enjoy the view.
