About
The boutique winery of the Malherbes of Eikehof can be found amongst the decades of old oak trees from which it get its name. Fourth generation Francois Malherbe makes his wine in the same cellar that his great grandfather used. Eikehof has one of the oldest still producing vineyard blocks in South Africa.

Wonderful family owned and run winery!!
Wonderful family-owned and run winery (now in 4th generation). Meet the actual owners. We were welcomed by the husband and wife team who gave us a welcome taste. We then did a 4 wine taste with a large meat, fruit, and cheese tray. Everything was wonderful. This was the only winery where we bought wines to take home with us. Highly recommend it for a small, family-owned winery experience!

    Best Small Wine Farm
Lovely welcome to this fantastic small family wine farm. All the staff were very welcoming especially Caleb. Choose the wine tasting and cheese and fruit platter which was so good! We asked where the cheese was made so that’s tomorrow’s day out sorted. The wines were all really good. Bought 6 bottles and some fresh peaches for breakfast. We will visit again for some wine and that cheese and fruit platter. As well as the lovely cheese and wine the views were pretty spectacular too from under the shade of the oak tree.

    Not to be missed
Great wine tasting experience in fact one of the better ones we have had in this area. Caleb? Was informative and answered all our questions. The present owner took time to speak to us and you get the passion the owners have with their fourth generation farm. We also took to some of their wines and getting some shipped back home

    Our favourite wine tasting experience!
We had a fantastic experience at this charming boutique winery. Amazing vista to enjoy the wines, delicious cheeseboard & really passionate staff. We even met the owners who took the time to talk to us too. Excellent wines not to be missed!

Wine tasting & delicious platter, with unbeatable view
Authentic Family owned vineyard for delicious tasting & cheese and fruit platter. Highly recommend. Owners take time and obviously pride in detailing their delicious wines. Their staff too are without doubt excellent-informed, friendly and welcoming. We left having bought semillion wine, a leather bag, and an amazing smelling bunch of fresh eucalyptus! Superb experience. Don’t miss out.

    Perfect Stop in Stellenbosch
My wife and I had this as a stop for the Wine Tram stop back in September, and we highly recommend making it a part of your time in Stellenbosch! The property is beautiful and the wines were great, but our favorite part of our stop here was definitely Anunwa, who was not only knowledgeable about the wines, but took the time to talk to us about our travels and where we're from. We loved chatting with him about the NFL!! We will definitely be ordering some of their wines and shipping them back to the US, and look forward to catching up with Anunwa next time we are in South Africa!

    A winery with a difference
What a different experience. Warm and friendly in the approach to wine tasting with owners and staff who are committed to the love of their wines. A smaller operation that really has that personal touch. We asked our host Caleb to choose the wines he would recommend. He offered wines that paired so well withe the variety of meats and cheeses available to sample from their menu. Having visited a number of wineries in South Africa and other countries this will remain a favorite.

    Favourite Vineyard in Franschhoek!
We visited Eikehof as part of our wine tram day and this was our third stop… and our last! We were given a taste of rose on arrival and then decided we would stop for a cheese and meat platter and a bottle of wine rather than a wine tasting. We were served by Caleb who was unbelievably helpful and informative. After trying a couple of wines we decided on the Sauvignon Blanc which was wonderful. The platter was delicious and enjoyed whilst sat under the trees overlooking the vines. We were really keen to try Eikehof as we prefer smaller vineyards and we were so very impressed. We had such a fabulous time that we ended up staying all afternoon, sampling more of the first class wines and chatting to Caleb. We missed the last tram back and Caleb kindly dropped us back. It was the most wonderful afternoon and felt like we were treated like friends. Would 100% recommend visiting, Caleb you are a real credit to Eikerhof and thank you for your hospitality and kindness.

    What an amazing winery
Visited today after stopping of the wine tram. Complimentary glass of rose wine on arrival which was lovely. We had the 4 white and 4 red tasters along with a cheese and meat platter which was fab. Would say it was the nicest of the wineries we visited and would certainly recommend it.

Small, fine, friendly and great wines
Eikehof Wines - just up the road from Franschhoek - was incredible. The backdrop of the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve perfectly complimented the smiling faces and the friendly owners Elize and Francois immediately engaged in conversation and greeted us with complementary rosé. In their backyard, another family was having a reunion-type event while we sat down, took in the gorgeous scenery and amazing decorations such as the old rusty 1942 Ford Cape truck that the previous generations used to harvest their grapes. And their wine selection was as wonderful as the first. It was here that my wife had her hilarious encounter with Jimmy the ostrich after being convinced to feed him, sparking a new love for the curious birds.

We did the wine tram in Franschhoek which was extremely fun but Eikehof is the only vineyard I am writing a review for. They are completely unmatched. Service and knowledge is brilliant (especially Caleb). Wine is delicious and the feel of the place is rustic and authentic. Wish we spent more time here!

What an incredible experience. The wine tasting was exceptional. The food was great BUT the best thing is the people. They honestly made you feel at home and I did not want to leave. Their port is amazing!

We visited Eikehof on the Red route on the Franschhoek Wine Tram experience. It was our first stop and we didn’t know what to expect, Eikehof set the bar high! Starting with a beautiful complementary welcome Sauvignon Blanc tasting & then an in depth teaching from Caleb about the wine production process! We visited their 2 on-site ostriches and fed them, followed by a tasting. Their ford (port) was exceptional & the experience gave a lovely homely family-run vibe.

Our favorite wine estate among the four we visited during our stay in Franschhoek. Our sommelier was fantastic, telling us all about the history of the region and the winery, and as we had ordered the jumbo meat/cheese/fruit platter -- which was terrific, btw -- he gave us very great, spot on tips for pairing unique food combos with the different wines we tasted. The owner also took time to stop by each table and greet customers and showed a true interest in us and our experience. Top notch all the way. Oh yes, and the wines were superb!

Every time ( and we have been a few times and always bought wine) we have been to Eikehof, with our young children we have had no issues. Until this time.

Wine this time was ok. Not great, but if the owners daughter moans at my children for playing on the old tractor, which they have always played on, can now suddenly not play on, and she doesn’t come to me first, I have a problem. Sorry Eikehof, I won’t be back.

Come to me first - not my 6yr old and 9yr old. They were in tears.

Hi Jean, I am sorry to hear about your bad experience. We are proud to showcase our old heritage vehicles to visitors. We have a signage next to the vehicles to ask visitors to please respect our family heritage. The tractor is a 1955 Massey Ferguson which is old and rusted so also the 1942 Ford truck. We don't mind visitors taking photographs but please handle with love. We would like to see you again to enjoy our wines. Elize & Francois Malherbe
