This monument in Franschhoek is dedicated to the Huguenot settlers from France and located in a nice garden.

Franschhoek is like a small European city in the centre of South Africa, views are very beautiful and one of the most view is from de Huguenot Monument, the mountains in the background are amazing!

We really enjoyed our visit and the explanation of how and why the Huguenots came to South Africa. The history of the early settlers was particularly interesting.

The Huguenot Memorial Monument and Museum is a must if you are in Franschhoek. It is a beautiful monument and has so much meaning to the French people who came to South Africa.

It doesn't look impressive from a distance but the closer you get the more spectacular it appears - moreso on a beautiful day. That said what made it for me was the story of the oppressed huguenots as set out in the adjacent museum -...More
