A must drive. Won't take you too long and the views are worth it. We made a complete circle of the drive and went through Elgin which is also very pretty and so many orchards filled with fruit at this time of year.

Leaving Franschhoek we took the magnificent Pass on our way to Ootshorn, scenery was breathtaking at times, magnificent views of the Mountains and valleys.Although some parts of the Mountain drive needed 100% concentration for the driver, twisting continuos bends. but it was worth the effort.
On our way from the Elgin Valley to Franschhoek we crossed the mountains via this pass. As with most roads in South Africa it was well maintained with wonderful views of the valley and Franschhoek below. It's easy to stop and enjoy the views.
glad we took this route, very scenic approach to Franschhoek. The road surface was good, slightly inferior to the main road Plett to Cape Town, but still good.
