This small museum sits in the Solms Delta winery farm. It covers the history of mankind in the area from early stone age through first farmers then European colonisation and slavery and finally, apartheid and its defeat. There are some artefact cabinets to match a small number of information boards. It's not big or spectacular but well worth 30 minutes... More

We called in, not sure what to expect. In fact its quite hard to find out. A little guide/map at the entrance would be helpful. We went to the museum ( next to restaurant) which was really interesting. This is a serious effort to understand the social history of this farm which, of course, related to the history of South Africa.... More

We visited Solms-Delta at the end of our Franschhoek Wine Tram tour. We had been to five other wine farms that day and had been mostly very impressed. Solms-Delta spoilt our day. The music in the tasting room was oppressively loud and the service was awful; rather than explaining the wine being served, the older lady simply dropped the neck... More

Great time . Wine tasting ,farm history, music history all in one place. Excellent service. We can learn about the slavery by visiting the museum. The farm was established in 1860 and is fascinating to see that today it has become a place in which the diverse culture of local people is preserved. A proof of that is the museum... More

Wine tasting: White wine in two instances was lukewarm. Staff seemed distracted and we waited too long between each tasting. Waited over 90 minutes for picnic. Staff appeared muddled and confused as to what food needed to go where, so we ended up with too little food for our group. The same woman who was packing the picnic was also... More

We were met with this vineyard's historian, Marsha who provided a very informative history of the vineyard going back more than 4 centuries with its different owners and the laborers (slaves) that worked there over the past multi-centuries. Marsha was also talented singer as she demonstrated the songs, dances and culture of the local people laboring this vineyard. It really... More

We had the pleasure of visiting this venue as we had to do a dog demo for the Drakenstein Animal Rescue Solms Delta is certainly not the best known place but it is absolutely pretty and LOCAL The environment is beautiful and you can make nice walks on the farm. They are dog-friendly and have a nice river so the... More

We decided to have lunch in Solms-Delta because it is recommended as one of the most interesting farm and vineyards in the area. The food is simply delicious and so is the staff, very kind and professional.

I visited the above resort for wine tasting this morning. This is part of my hobby when I visit Cape Town. Some of the wines I tasted was Chenin blanc, rose, Shiraz, cape jazz Shiraz which I found to be the smoothest and I also tasted Astor pear cider. Wines are fairly cheap to purchase. Unfortunately I cannot say much... More
