It's a terrific park with a few lakes, good trails. You can pick up a map from the visitors office which is located right across the entrance to the park off Rt 23 (open 9-4). There are paved walking paths, one starts right after you pass the toll booth on the right with the sign "scenic route." The views from... More

We went in late November after a rain, so the park wasn't at its best. Even so, there's a surprising range of views and areas with different feels. The monument at the top was closed, so we walked to it but couldn't enter. There are picnic areas, swimming, nature exhibits and clean restrooms. The "Monument Trail" hike from the obelisk... More

It's a very pretty state park in far northern New Jersey - you can hike, swim in small spring-fed lakes or just enjoy the views. To get to the monument at the high point of the park (and of all NJ!), you can either hike up or drive to a parking lot near the base, which is great either for... More

Situated at top of nj where 3 states meet. Views are breathtaking especially in the fall. You can park at base of monument and gaze over the valley below very serene. Below this are many roads to explore plus picnic areas and campsites. Have lived in this area 40 yrs. And it never ceases to amaze me.

The walk up to the top of the Monument was really nice. I did it in 20 minutes by pacing myself, the air is definitely thin as you climb. For those in better shape than me this will be an easy , faster climb. The views are limited with a few narrow windows along the walls. Take your time to... More

Beautiful vista views from this lovely spot in the corner of nj. CCC made sure other Jerseyans can enjoy this venue for decades afterwards. The monument is a 220' hike for only those healthy individuals. The visitor center has terrific historical and natural points to share-it used to be a very upscale restaurant in its heyday. There are lots of... More

We love to visit here - whether it is to swim at the lake, drive the scenic route up the mountain to the lookouts, or play at the parks. Hiking trails aren't the greatest - but the views are certainly worth it!

High Point state park is located just outside of Montague Township in Sussex County, NJ. This state park covers an area over 16,000 acres and is situated at the highest elevation of ~1,800 feet in the State of New Jersey. Its entrance is accessed from Route 23, about 7 miles north of Sussex, NJ and about 4 miles south of... More

Beautiful view watch the weather. Can be extremely windy. Plan your day for this many stairs to climb up. If traveling with young kids or adults with medical issues may want really think this one out. Flushing Toilets big plus!
