An easy to moderate hike on a beautiful mountain

For a slope in the NJ foothills, it's fine. Avoid the obvious busy times, when the once-a-year crowd turn up, and get yourself a quick top-up without having to travel far. The top of the slope is steep enough to challenge beginners, but there's a get-off half way up. Go after a big snowfall and the little trails through the... More

Folks in the west don't consider the Ramapos mountains, but they are about the same height as the Ural Mountains. Local usage defines what a "mountain" is. Take N.J. Route 208 North to the Summit Avenue exit in Franklin Lakes. Turn left at the end of the ramp, following the sign for Franklin Lakes. At the next traffic light, turn... More

NOTE: This review is for hiking in Spring, not skiing / snowboarding. I went here for a hike over the weekend and it was enjoyable. I think if you're looking for mountains with viewpoints / rocky areas, go nearby to Ramapo Mountain State Forest or Norvin Green State Forest, but this was fun if you just want to fit in... More

Campgaw has been great for my boys who are beginners. The ski lessons are great as well as the snowboards. As my kids get better, the mountain isn't a good fit, but for beginners its awesome. It is close to us and so we can go during the week. We don't often go on the weekend because it is too... More

This is not a huge ski resort- it's actually really only a few trails with 2 short chair lifts (that go in parallel to each other to the top of the same peak) and 3 "magic carpet" rides for the bunny slope and mini bunny slope. My husband and I are decent skiers/snowboarders, so it's honestly a little boring for... More

The ski school teams took half of the space each weekend. I Like their web cam you can the condition and if it's crowded. The ski partrol guys are the best! Food are pricy. But they sometimes have live music! And the bands are very good.

I absolutely love this place! my family grew up coming here when we wanted somewhere close to play in the snow and ski for a little bit. It was a great place to start learning. The lodge is really cute! As long as there is some snow when I come back home in march Ill be there for the tubing!

A litttle pricey at $26 a person for a 2 hr session, but the kids had a blast. There's only one hill, so I'm not sure how much longer than 2 hours One annoyance was that there were kids who kept cutting the lines, and there's no staff monitoring.
