Lovely Nature Trails
Jan 2021 • Couples
The odd thing is I have visited this park before, but really just used the bathroom , looked at the lighthouse, and was on my way. On this pleasantly warn day in January (50 degrees!), we used the bathroom, looked at the light house, and started to drive away until I noticed... a trail sign. Huh. I pulled a rather illegal about face ( no lives were lost) parked, and we hopped out.

We started down the nature trail, a mix of sand trails, boardwalks and pygmy forests. We wove between ponds and ended up at ponds filled with ducks, swans, mergansers, and buffleheads (I love that name).

What a tranquil, unexpected gem of a trail.

Peace and Tranquillity

This was our first time to the park and won’t be our last. Beautiful, pristine beach, great walking trails with amazing views of the water and surrounding nature and an awesome lighthouse and bunker. Can’t wait to come back when it’s a little bit warmer.

Must See for Nature Observations and Walk
Oct 2020
Always a great visit, be sure to bring camera and binoculars. Covid safe walking. Three levels of easy walking trail thru to woods, marsh and lagoon beach areas. Very diverse- you will see many different birds as well as trees, plants, turtles. Red trail is .5 mile, Yellow 1.2, Blue 1.5. Very level and occasional seating. Well maintained with observation deck areas.

Beautiful Park
Sep 2020 • Family
I will absolutely return to visit this state park when I return to NJ! We stopped in when we had only about an hour and a half to visit. I could spend an entire afternoon exploring the beautiful trails and watching the amazing wildlife. Plenty of birds, dragonflies, butterflies, and even little bitty crabs on the beach. Wear cozy shoes for the trails (most of them are lined with boardwalks), but know that the WWII bunker is on the beach, so either plan to bring sandals or go barefoot on the sand. It's a beautiful place!

Great Park with Trails, Views and Nature
Aug 2020
We parked in the lot adjacent to the lighthouse. After walking up some of the viewing platforms and taking in the view we were drawn to the hiking paths. A short easy hike of about two miles with views of swans, rabbits and the beach. We stopped to view the WWII bunker and take in views of the Cape May Coastline. Great photo ops throughout the walk. Birds, butterflies and more. A great experience.

This beach was my favorite on Cape May
Jul 2020
This beach seemed to me to be the cleanest and nicest beach on Cape May. I think if I were to return I would want to go back.

Not just the light house
Jul 2020
Besides the lighthouse, there are pleasant hikes and the beach. There is also a WWII bunker from 1942 that was built for coastal defense but, sadly, is not opened. A great way to spend an afternoon in Cape May.

Great state park
Jun 2020
We recently returned from visiting this state park. Although the lighthouse is closed due to the coronavirus there is still plenty to due here. There are boardwalks with lookout points, and longer trails. There is a pond with many, many swans. There are many covered picnic tables. There is a WWll gun emplacement on the beach. It is free to get onto the beach. Parking was plentiful. Would definitely like to go back and spend more time here.
