Cape May Point State Park featured the lighthouse. Beautiful wide open beaches to explore. There's also a WWII gun battery on the beach to explore. The nature center and visitor center are only open on the weekends.

Cape May Point State Park's crown jewel is the historic 1859 Cape May lighthouse as you enter, but there are many other things to do also. This 244 acre park is free to enter as well as the beach, yet they allow no swimming? There are plenty of trails to see as well as wildlife, being located in one of the prime migratory waterfowl paths on the east coast. Plenty of picnic areas, rest rooms and people scour the beach for the "famous" Cape May diamonds. We found it a very short drive from historic Cape May.

Most people come here to see the Lighthouse, but this place offers so much more. We love hiking the trails at this location. There are 3 trails to choose from and are easy and kid friendly. Every time we come to Cape May we make sure to go hiking on the trails and later enjoy time on the beach. We also like the nature center as well as the lighthouse and the beach. Since this beach has no lifeguards, it's free and more secluded than the main beach. We sometimes like to fly kites here or just walk along the shoreline. This place is also good for picnics. A few years ago we came here and had breakfast at the picnic tables. It was fun and memorable.

A beach where you can park for free and go onto the sand for free? Look no further, Uncrowded site with plenty of parking and clean restrooms by the lot. Although you are not allowed to swim, you can wade into the water to cool off. Lighthouse dominates part of the view. Take a chair, a book, a kindle (wi fi near by) and enjoy. Very quiet spot.

Really nice beach and not too crowded. The sand is nice and the views nice. Have a relaxing time here. They have a lighthouse near and nice facilities.

The odd thing is I have visited this park before, but really just used the bathroom , looked at the lighthouse, and was on my way. On this pleasantly warn day in January (50 degrees!), we used the bathroom, looked at the light house, and started to drive away until I noticed... a trail sign. Huh. I pulled a rather illegal about face ( no lives were lost) parked, and we hopped out.

We started down the nature trail, a mix of sand trails, boardwalks and pygmy forests. We wove between ponds and ended up at ponds filled with ducks, swans, mergansers, and buffleheads (I love that name).

What a tranquil, unexpected gem of a trail.

This was our first time to the park and won’t be our last. Beautiful, pristine beach, great walking trails with amazing views of the water and surrounding nature and an awesome lighthouse and bunker. Can’t wait to come back when it’s a little bit warmer.

Always a great visit, be sure to bring camera and binoculars. Covid safe walking. Three levels of easy walking trail thru to woods, marsh and lagoon beach areas. Very diverse- you will see many different birds as well as trees, plants, turtles. Red trail is .5 mile, Yellow 1.2, Blue 1.5. Very level and occasional seating. Well maintained with observation deck areas.

I will absolutely return to visit this state park when I return to NJ! We stopped in when we had only about an hour and a half to visit. I could spend an entire afternoon exploring the beautiful trails and watching the amazing wildlife. Plenty of birds, dragonflies, butterflies, and even little bitty crabs on the beach. Wear cozy shoes for the trails (most of them are lined with boardwalks), but know that the WWII bunker is on the beach, so either plan to bring sandals or go barefoot on the sand. It's a beautiful place!
