We were looking for a theatre option on our unplanned adventure and stumbled upon this company. The space provided an intimate setting to allow the audience to be part of the performance. The story of this theatre space and its support of local artists are worth your patronage. Great value for money. The coffee and cookies at intermission where a... More

We did a dinner and play Friday night date. "A Few Good Men" was a well done production at this intimate playhouse. My husband and I have seen a lot of productions here over the years. They offer a wide range of plays. We especially love the intermission complimentary tea, coffee, and cookies with pick your own mug. You feel... More

Saw "Darwin's Waiting Room", a hilarious sketch comedy group. The seats are all very good but they have no AC, so dress accordingly.

I've been to The Player's Ring for the past three Christmas seasons. The first year I watched an original Christmas production that took play during WWII. The past two times I've been I watched the Christmas Carol. The Player's Ring is a tiny theater so every seat offers a great view. Speaking of seats, the actual seats are old and... More

Everything from Shakespeare to silliness, classic to contemporary is presented in a wonderfully intimate space. Best value for the dollar in the whole seacoast area.

The Player's Ring is a true Portsmouth treasure. I have seen some of the best plays of my life here, and nothing they put on is ever worse than above average. $15 gets you coffee, cookies, tea, conversation with interesting people, and a seat right next to the action in a true theater in the round. The last play I... More

One of several live theatre venues in Portsmouth. They offer a variety of productions throughout the year from popular favorites to original works by local playwrites. Prices are very affordable.

If you are into avante garde theater or improv, this is a good place to visit. The theater is very artist driven and offers a wide array of theatrical choices. This was a favorite of mine when I lived in the area.

It's small; only about 50 seats, and the venue is a very old building with no a/c and perhaps not as much heat as they could have in the winter, but it's a wonderful place to see (mostly) locally written and produced plays. You're right on top of the action, which is great; you feel like you're a part of... More
