Its a couple of block stretch in the middle of town. The shops are unique, not parts of chains. Wonderful restaurants and bars. Lively and fun.

beautiful day in Portsmouth, NH! 60+ degrees with blue skies and the place was jumping with the energy of spring - an acapella concert by Alabaster Blue, sitting outside "Breaking New Grounds" with a nice french roast... Highly recommended.

Market Square has quintessential New England charm. The shops and surrounding waterfront were lovely, and the church was gorgeous. All of the shop owners were kind and welcoming. Well worth a stop if you're headed from Boston to Maine.

Two adults and 1 child loved how festive and beautiful Market Square was. WE went to 1st night Portsmouth. We went to the festival of trees. It was wonderful and Market Square was beautiful also. We love Portsmouth during winter holidays.

Variety of shops, something for everyone. Old town feel with sidewalk entertainers, ice sculptures. Walking distance to Prescott Park, Strawberry Bank and the Music Hall. Restaurants catering to all tastebuds with piers overlooking a working port.

Lovely area for shopping, some food, history and the charm of New England. Brick streets and the character of an upscale seaside town. Interesting boutiques, an antique store, cafes, and some history. Lovely people warm the square. Worth the stop for an hour, a day, a weekend. If you are like me you will want to return for more time... More

Just take a nice stroll at night. It's lovely, historical, colonial and warm. They have a red brick road in that old area, so easy to know you are in the Market Square
