Sail aboard the Piscataqua, a traditional reproduction of the flat-bottom gundalow barges that were once prevalent along local waterways. Educational, informative and fun, a sail is a great way to explore the sights and sounds of the Piscataqua River. Morning, afternoon, and sunset sails run Memorial Day through Columbus Day, and we offer weekly specialty sails featuring music, guest speakers, local tastings, and more. Private charters are also available.

This is a lovely way to see Portsmouth and learn a bit about the history of the area and how these Gundalow boats were used.

It was a last minute decision to go on a 2-hour sail. Great learning experience as guide explained about the history of this boat. He also brought out a navigation map and briefly explained how they are used. A motor on board supplements the sail...More

Ship was comfortable and spacious, crew friendly and informative. Casual ride to the mouth of the Piscataqua River and back. Beautiful views of Portsmouth, Newcastle, Kittery and of course the Shipyard. Brought a picnic and beverages. Awesome evening was had by all.

We went on the Kids Ride Free tour and had a wonderful time. The boat was full, but since it doesn't hold that many, everyone had a place to sit and room to move around. Keep in mind the seats are basically benches that hold...More

My partner and I were excited to finally sail on the Gundalow, as we are locals and have been meaning to do it for a while. I booked us the 1.5 hour history tour, thinking we'd learn all about the gundalow and the history of...More
