Squam Lakes Natural Science Center is a fun and enlightening place for everyone to enjoy. Here at the Science Center, we house and exhibit many different wild animals, including river otters, mountain lions, bobcats, deer, bears, birds, foxes, and skunks. The wild animals at Squam Lakes Natural Science Center are ambassadors of their species, here for the purpose of educating our visitors about New Hampshire's natural world. Most are orphaned, injured, or otherwise unable to survive in the wild. Observing these animals up-close, together with experiencing our hands-on exhibits, offers visitors the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of our native wildlife and appreciation of the natural world.

My husband and I spent the afternoon at the science center. When we first got there they were having a talk on beavers which was very informative. We walked all around the center and were really impressed with the enclosures and facilities for the animals, most of which could not live in the wild on their own. We enjoyed walking... More

Beautiful location with great, hands on exhibits for kids. Learned lots about New Hampshire animals such as big cats (mountain lions, bobcats), raptors (owls, hawks, bald eagles), otters, deer and much more. The kids area was terrific - a new wooden, outdoor playground lets you scurry about like a red squirrel, which both kids and adults alike enjoyed.

Go at your own pace and enjoy the outdoors and the animals. Lots of learning can go on here and take advantage of the hikes they have to offer as well. Great location, you never feel rushed or over crowded here. I would even do this in a light rain. Great for adults and kids. Lots of places to have... More

Thanks so much for writing a review. You're right about never feeling rushed or overcrowded. Even on some of our busiest days the exhibit trail never seems too crowded. And sometimes weather that isn't perfect is perfect here. Meaning that a little rain means the trail is pretty quiet and the animals are more active. It sounds like you have... More

What I love about the nature center is that they are continually updating, but still keep the general feel they have always had. My family brought me here as a kid, I brought my son here when he was young, and likely he will bring his family here someday. The nature center explains the ecology of the Lakes Region, which... We had a terrific 90 minute cruise on Squam Lake which the Center conducts. We experienced both loon and eagle sightings. Wonderful educational experience about the lake with sprinkles of On Golden Pond movie information. Was also very leisurely and a nice size boat to enjoy. We have vacationed here over 20 years and rate this as one of the best. The... More

A brilliant place for all ages to visit. The centre has carefully structured natural habitats for a range of animals in such a sympathetic way. Many of these animals have been rescued and are now cared for in a protective environment. Great exhibitions and real life learning.
