Here in Sparks for a softball tournament. Had a free day and wanted to get in some water play. We were hesitant to visit because of the previous reviews (none of which were recent). But, we were very happy we went. No homeless around and no trash. Bathroom was decent. The girls had a great time in the river.

I knock it down a star because of the amount of people that go here in the hotter months. Aside from the crowds though it's a great place. Ice cream trucks frequent here, you can go for a swim in the river(you can jump off some of the rocks too), and there is a very long paved trail that I've taken for 6 miles(not sure how long it it).

Rock park is a narrow strip of greenery in the city that is alongside the Truckee river. There is ample parking and toilets. The river narrows at a stretch to create fast water. Trout fishing downstream from that area can be good.

Rock Park and neighboring Gateway Park used to be nice, but in the past year it has been taken over by homeless camps. Lots of garbage, drifters, and ferral cats. Its not safe. I live in the nearby RV park for the past 9 years and I am planning on leaving because the city of Sparks does not care about the deteriorating condition of this park. Its not safe, I would not recommend, or at least proceed with caution.

I don't have much to say about this place except that we were not impressed. We drove here not on purposed, but stopped to see what it was about while having lunch. It was relaxing to watch the river and people playing there, although it made us nervous watching the kids slipping and falling on the rocks. One parent had to wade in the water to get her son out of the water after he slipped and fell. She carried him back to the car and who knows what happened after that. He was screaming all the way.
We saw a family with a couple of dog that seemed to have fun chasing each other and cooling off in the really hot weather last week.
I would not want to go in the water at this place and would not recommend it for kids based o what I saw. I also wondered about potential issues with some homeless people close by.

This park is right down the street from our shop. There is a parking lot right next to the river, so it is a good place to sit in your car and eat lunch. There's a gentle slope down to the water and when the river is low it is a great place to wade in. It is very inviting during the heat of the summer months. HOWEVER, the river bike path has been somewhat inundated lately by the city's indigent population and folks have told me that they have run into trouble while riding all along the river bike path. BE CAREFUL. You DO NOT want to hang out here alone or at night. Also, keep kids away from the river when it is moving swiftly. It can be dangerous when the water is high! There is a park with a covered area.

I have floated, with and without a tube here. Back when water used to flow in the Truckee.
I have seen beavers, and in the springtime, wild pink roses bloom along the river-smell soo good, and later, wild blackberries! My dog used to run to, and stand in the river. Snow on the banks, or 100°, my dog & me loved that river.

This is a park along the river and it is an OK green space in spite of the current challenges of poverty.

They have an RV park, volleyball, grassy areas and waterfront areasas well as a little playground. Bring water shoes and watch your kids while in the water. It's free for day use.
