We decided to take advantage of Thursday's "Ladies' Day" lift tickets, which at the time, were only $29. Nevermind that we had to battle a snowstorm to get there from Reno and put brand-new tire chains on for the first time in a white-out! My two daughters and I enjoyed fresh, powdery snow with a Beginner lift that had several... More

This ski area is convenient to both Tahoe and Reno. It's located at high altitude and gets lots of snow. There is lots of varied terrain.

This hill enjoys great popularity with locals, and while offering some great ski runs doesn't have an atmosphere of pretension as do some of the "name" resorts in the Tahoe area. Rose is kid-friendly and their beginner training area is conveniently off to the side of the lodge where parents can keep an eye on their little ones if they... More

We took our kids for their first snowboarding lessons and they were snowboarding by the end. The staff was great and very encouraging and also gave our kids great feedback to improve. There's a deck with a restaurant and bar so you can watch your kids while they are taking the lessons. Overall, a great experience for our kids.

I only ski at Mt. Rose simply because of the scenery, not as crowded as other ski places, and they have runs for just about everyone skill levels. Good instructors for all experience levels too! You can't beat the view from the outdoor deck and when you've had enough skiing, there is food and a bar.

Mt Rose Ski is a hidden gem for skiing in the Tahoe/Reno area. Forget the crowds, the lines, the gondolas, the stuffy packed shuttle buses from the parking lot, -- just get on the mountain and ski! It has a good blend of runs and the local, family style skiing is frankly a lost art. The Winter's Creek Lodge is... More

I actually loved this place. Went there on a Tuesday with my husband and our 2 boys (3 and 6 years old). Best thing about going on a Tuesday was that it was 2 for Tuesday. 2 lift tickets for the price of one. $139 for us family of 4 to snowboard. You couldn't ask for a better price. Don't... More

There is a special for 1st timers 2 hr ski lesson, ski rental, and lift ticket for whole day for $135. The instructors and staff are very friendly and helpful. Beautiful views of mountains. Bring tire chains and windshield scraper or you will be stuck.

This is a good place for the beginners because of a price only I took some ski lessons here years ago was not happy with the results it seems as the instructors were more involved in their own personal skiing then helping you, but otherwise it's a very windy Mountain. And I really do mean windy check conditions before you... More
