Beautiful, clean outdoor spaces on both sides of the Truckee River. Lots of areas to picnic, feed the ducks, even stick toes in the water. Lovely trails with footbridges. Just wish there were some playgrounds...
With a few hours to kill before our flight, we decided to check-out this walk. It meanders along the river, from modern offices and casinos to lovely neighborhoods with historical homes. We found it to be quite clean (the water and the walkway), and mostly...More
First of all, parking was not a problem when we went on a mid-week afternoon. Parking is metered but not too pricey. It's a fun walk, with places to have a meal or just a drink, while viewing the river and in certain places, people...More
We were five adults, four were visiting from a foreign country, and three dogs walking early one morning. The air was fresh and the landscape beautiful. Fall is already visible as many of the trees were bright red or yellow. Even so colorful summer flowers...More
This is a little channel of water, at least when I went. There’s so much beauty around Lake Tahoe that this isn’t much in comparison. If you got a few minutes for sure, but it shouldn’t be your main attraction ...
This is so relaxing walking along the Truckee River. Reno has done such a great job on designing this park/walk. It has all different kinds of art. It really is a hidden gem, just a couple blocks from the casinos.
Get away from the depressing casino Street in Reno and join awesomeness at the Riverwalk. Nice paved walk on both sides of the river. Restaurants that even a movie theater. A few characters here and there, but most seem harmless.

I also stayed at the El Dorado. It is about 4 blocks to the Truckee River Walk. It is a paved, level trail, head up river to get to Idlewilde park where you will find the Nevada State Law Enforcement Memorial and the Reno Rose Gardens. It is about 1 mile to this park. The trail continues on past the park for probably another mile if you are inclined to go farther. So the walk from the El Dorado to Idlewilde Park is a little over 2 miles round trip. There is a really nice Cinema on the River Walk and there is a section of created whitewater recreation where kayaks practice. The river should be pretty high right now, it will be a fun walk. Check out the Reno Botanical Gardens and Museum too, they are just past the University of Nevada. Also about a 1 mile walk on city streets, mostly uphill.
