About
Now in it's 12th year of continuous operations under the original ownership, this staple has been named numerous times in articles ranking the "Best 50 American Bars", "Top 100 Bars in America", "Must See in Vegas" and "Vegas Hidden Gems". Arguably the first cocktail-heavy speakeasy on the West Coast, DCR is the undisputed Las Vegas original. Many have followed, but never duplicated the authenticity, love, and good vibes of this Vegas institution. Best Happy Hour in the city... Half-Off everything from 4P-7P!!

This oasis just off of Fremont is my local hangout. It opens at 5pm and has a happy hour through to 7pm, where all drinks are 50% of and not 50% less. The menu changes each season, although you can order any cocktail off menu. Dollar for Dollar this is the best cocktail spot in Vegas hands down (Strip Included). A dark interior with piped music and great staff. Be patient however as these are hand crafted cocktails which take time. Relax enjoy the atmosphere and sip slowly.

Great place to go for crafted cocktails and best yet, they have a "halfy hour" from 5:00 to 7:00 daily.

It's confusing as you want to push on the metal door to enter the speakeasy as there's no sign or no door handle at the entrance.

Even though we'd read advice on finding the door, we still circled the building. Luckily, various nice people passing by showed us the way in. The difficulty in finding the door added a little "speakeasy" vibe that went nicely with the dim, luxurious interior. I don't know if the trouble with the door is worth it for the staff--I saw servers run outside several times to chase down people who were giving up. Though that was actually very sweet. For any "exclusive" or snobbish vibe the secret door might impart, the place is actually very welcoming, unassuming, and friendly.

We arrived for happy hour (Mon-Sat 4-7) and found a spot on a comfy sofa. The server explained the cocktail menu to us (we got there for the last day of the winter menu--it was about to change over to the spring) and we had a hard time choosing from the intriguing options. Each drink was very inventive and unexpected. Honestly, I am really impressed by the happy hour. These are very nice drinks with thoughtful details and care required of the bartender (my husband's was garnished with a flaming lemon peel--it looked and smelled amazing), and are half price at happy hour. That makes them less expensive than the aluminum bottles of Miller Light that my hotel-mates were swigging poolside.
We had such a nice time and had such difficulty choosing drinks from the interesting menu that we had to have a second round. For my second, I chose the Vesper, named after the martini created for the character in Casino Royale--it seemed appropriate for a gambling city, and it was delicious.

Be aware that the only food served is bar snacks--pretzels, olives, nuts. I like this, though. I'm a fan of places that do what they're good at and keep it simple!

After the din and lights of Vegas, this dark, quiet, straightforward, elegant cocktail room was a balm for my senses. I'll definitely make it a usual stop when I visit Vegas in the future.

Once we figured out how to get in, we were certainly glad we didn't give up easy and walk on. Wandering in just as they were opening up got us Happy Hour pricing, which may or may not have contributed (it did) to the two of us gambling a bit more than we'd initially planned on afterwards, AND a lost phone(quickly recovered) later in the evening, but it was totally worth it. After our first round of drinks from the actual menu, Mona made us a few custom cocktails that were too involved for me to describe in this review, but suffice it to say spectacular. This place has vibe for days. Very cool.

I just got giddy thinking back to our night here. Steph was the best, sweetest, most knowledgeable bartender we’ve met! Her drinks were the best we had all weekend. All women run business! They do allow smoking in the small bar but I would still go back again! Definitely a must visit bar!

We went to the Cocktail Room during the happy hour and everything on the menu is half price! The cocktail menu is well created and changes every season. The employees were able to explain the caracteristics of each cocktails and the story behind their creation.
The 5 cocktails we tasted were great I will be back next time I go to Vegas!

I've been visiting DCR since they opened in 2006(?) and after this great visit..it's time to give some props...

My most recent visit was Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020 at 10 PMish: The two women mixologists behind the bar were friendly, social and made some bomb cocktails. We were talking about Yelpers being all sensitive and sending bad reviews with no actual constructive feedback for businesses to work with. A big shout out to both of you for your professionalism and skills behind the bar...

The infamous entrance has the hidden door you push in from the outside. It's very dark/dimly lit which provides this cool speak easy vibe. The furniture, decord, lighting and bar area gives an upscale classy vibe for the drinkers. One the weekends, they'll pump house music through the area. Loud but not too loud to carry a conversation as you get your cocktail on.

My current DCR Cocktail Champ is the "Die Like a Samurai": Sake, Gin, House Made Paris Tea Syrup, Lemon Zest. The Sake is warm which I think enhances the taste because it's paired up well with the Tea Syrup and Gin. Very creative and dangerously tasty as a couple of these can get me to Uber home level quickly. Let's be honest, the name is also bad a$$. I love Japanese culture and this name popped for me on the menu.lol

Overall, this is still a great place to grab a cocktail in the downtown area and I'm glad that it's survived through the years. I've been here for dates, pre-gaming, last drink for the night, etc and DCR still delivers. Cheers!

What a delightful little gem! This tiny, dark cocktail lounge is directly opposite the Freemont Street Experience, and for the price of a well drink on the Street, you can get a unique craft cocktail from a seasonal menu. If you'd like to go easier on your travel budget, visit during happy hour (6 days a week!) for 50% off. Fun, funky, and fabulous, we WILL be back!
