Visited at Christmas and really enjoyed walking around Freemont - light show was lovely, nice 'old skool' feel and it wasn't too busy. Great to visit the famous Vegas casinos and see the iconic lights of the Four Queens and the Golden Nugget. Fast forward...More

Second time to Fremont and the powers-that-be have done a great job upgrading this area. Clean and safe, it's fun to watch the zip liners. Walking thru the old casinos is fun as well. Get your picture taken at Binion's in from on the $1M...More

Fremont always has a lot of neat things going on. Be sure to drop in to the Golden Nugget and find their Nugget display and be amazed. Binions Steak house is a great place to get a reasonably priced great steak.

Down town is the place to go.. It's old, but everything is just right there, walking distance. The casinos are all walking distances and restaurants and alcohol flowing inside and out. They have bands on the stages and just a fun experience.

We found this by accident. Took me back in time. Very surprised that drinking is allowed in the streets (all of Las Vegas). The people flying through the air were awesome! Lots of shops, free music (day & night), people-watching, restaurants and pubs...a perfect ending...More

Don't bring your family here, except for the SLOTZILLA zip line, which is AWESOME! The Freemont Street experience has very few shops and only a small handful of restaurants. It's mostly all casinos and bars. There are also DJs playing and a light show above...More

The hourly Freemont Street experience is a fun outing. When we were there they featured the band Heart with three of their songs and videos of the band amongst the light show. There were other bands and buskers on the street performing before and after...More

3.5 miles from the strip we hesitated about visiting Freemont but it was easy to get to on the "deuce" bus from the strip (about 30 mins) and well worth the effort. It was a Saturday night and there were 2 live bands, various buskers/...More

Take a bus to Fremont Street. If you go after dark there is quite the light show. After 4 PM they have a lot cheaper prices on meals than the new Vegas. Don't forget to stop at Binions casino and in the back they take...More

I would say staying at the Golden Nugget is a bonus for you. Freemont Street is free. There may be cover charges for some of the clubs at New Years. Great idea and great that you're planning early.

I would suggest parking where you are staying and take public transportation or Uber to any tourist attractions, it will be very difficult when you are ready to leave.
