I didn't have a lot of time to really peruse the museum, as I arrived close to closing, but I was very impressed with what I saw. The Pony Express exhibit, the Native American basketry, Snowshoe Thompson exhibits were very interesting. This small museum is...More

If you're visiting Genoa, you absolutely should stop in! Genoa is of course the oldest settlement in Nevada, but it is a small town and what a treasure for it to have such an extensive museum! My favorite part is the recreated courtroom upstairs.

You must go to this museum to learn about the history of the area (and learn about Snowshoe Thompson). I found the exhibits at this museum very interesting. The person working that day was very informative and helpful in answering our questions. Don't miss going...More

Great taste of Local history from the early 1900's. Like taking a walk back in time to the outlaw days when horses and buggies were the mood of transportation. Nice tour guide and friendly staff. Small fee

Wonderful collection from the Gold Rush days. The volunteer that day was very knowledgable. If you like history its a must visit! Genoa was the 1st settlement in Nevada, small but worth seeing.

If you are in Genoa, don't miss this museum located in historic courthouse. Earnest and enthusiastic docent. Beautiful Washoe baskets. Original courthouse and jail and reconstructed school room would make it interesting for kids. Great place to spend an hour.

Great little museum with loads of interesting photos, artifacts, and stories. Genoa is the oldest town in Nevada, movies were filmed in the area. Great place to spend a weekend.

This was an interesting place but I would not make a special trip here. The Genoa Bar is way more interesting and you can get a cold beverage as well. Stay at the bar.
