We came here after visiting the Arbor Day Farm. Very pretty park that has a log cabin, a statue of Daphine and the founder of Arbor Day. Behind the statues is a concrete Whispering Bench. Two people, one at each end of the curved bench can whisper into the back part of the bench and the other one can hear... More

We came to Nebraska City to see the Arbor Day Farm. It was cold and damp so instead we toured the J. Sterling Morton mansion. It is maintained by the the Arbor Day Foundation. The trees on the grounds are beautiful. The whispering bench is worth a visit. The house is a great glimpse into turn of the century furnishings.... More

My husband and I went to Nebraska City and stayed at a B&B for a night. Many of the area's attractions were closed for the winter. We were pleased to find Arbor Lodge was open on a trial basis during February. We did the self guided tour and found it very interesting. The mansion is an amazing building accomplishment for... Founder of Arbor Day-J. Sterling Morton's home. Decorated for Christmas was beautiful! The lady at the front desk was very knowledgeable about the family, history, and additions built onto the house through the years. There is a one lane bowling alley in the basement. Wonderful experience. Watch the video first and then take the self guided tour of the 52... More

My wife took our two daughters through the mansion and the kids loved it! As first graders and fifth graders the girls really loved all the history and "neat things" in the home. We were there for their Christmas season so each room was beautifully decorated.
