This structure was no doubt converted from a National Mid-Priced Hotel Chain of indeterminate origin, possibly Ramada, but could be some other. I am not an expert on this. Service is sketchy, as occupants have seriously mismanaged health care, corrections, tourism and other responsibilities under their domain. One can only hope that their residency here is a short-lived one, but... More

I was able to visit the governor's mansion during that time due to a family connection to the Governor's Mansion. It is a interesting place to visit and a fair amount of history of past Governor's and their spouses. There is a cook book by Governor's Orr spouse that I own and have used some of the recipes.

It is advertised but it was locked up tighter than a drum the day we were there and it looked like it had been for a while. Disappointed.

You can't go in (obviously) but this is a fun part of touring the state capitol building (which is also very impressive).

We were given a tour of the Mansion by a very knowledgeable guide. Our guide enjoyed her job and made the tour fun. If you have the time and tours are available, it is worth seeing.

The house was completely redecorated about 15 years ago. Not much is original to the house but there is a "doll room" that has a case of dolls labelled by Governor's spouses and their gowns. It is a beautiful house and I am glad we went.

Enjoyable to see some of our state's historical treasures in this stately home, which is formal yet clearly family-oriented. The governor's pet pooch welcomed us at the front door, and the first lady soon followed, chatting with us as we toured. Admirable and long successful is the mansion's program of using prison inmates on work release as staff. This prestigious... More
