This is another don't miss if you are interested in history. Especially settler. The fort isn't much to boast about itself - basically the reconstructed walls but there are good informational stands around the site. A nice walk and learn.

We enjoyed our visit to this historic place and the small museum and outdoor exhibits. The movie that they played in the visitor center was great and put it all in a kind of understandable perspective. The park seems in need of donations for repairs and some upkeep. If you are interested in history there is a something interesting to... More

visitor center has good exhibits with short film. Grounds include a rebuilt stockade, covered wagon, and sod house.

Part of the Nebraska State Parks so a park permit plus entry fee ($2) required to get in. Overall an interesting place to visit. The majority of the park only has markers of where the building would have been. Ft. Mitchell, the livestock portion of the park, has a completed fort like setting which includes the four towers that you... More

Very informative. Good mix of adult learning with a few things to help kids learn. We would have liked to have more interactive activities for kids. Nice sod reconstructions.

It is a great place to stretch your legs and view some historical items. The buildings are replicas but it still has a nice historical feeling. The sprinkler system was on in half of the grounds out back, so I can’t say what we might have missed. Some interesting historical information inside.

Was here on the4th of July, and they have a Civil War Re-enactment, that was very well done. Nice beautiful grounds, and they even have bats in the sod house! One of the best campgrounds that we have seen in Nebraska next door.

Our visit was rather brief, but we really enjoyed it. Make sure you watch the video in the visitors' center. It is worth the 15 minutes soy our understand more about the fort and its purpose.

In addition to the numerous historical items, this park has an outstanding Sandhill Crane information center. Its one of the must go to places if you visit Kearney during the Crane migration. In addition, the park sits in among the cornfields where literally thousands of cranes are feeding.

This is such a neat place to camp, fish or just walk around the park. It has a lot of history and it is just a beautiful place to be.
