This is nicely restored and looks authentic. You can go around and into the buildings. I must admit that the first time I went here, I was disappointed. It didn't look anywhere near a fort. The way I thought a fort should look. There are no walls, fortifies at all, so actually left without going inn. That was an error,... More

We were up spending some time at Calamus Reservoir and wanted to check out some things in the area. We really enjoyed our time at Fort Hartsuff. It was the perfect size to take a family, with younger kids. Plenty of things for them to check out and enjoy. Really neat and peaceful how they have the village set up.... More

Several restored buildings with period furnishings. Each building is open to explore except the post commanders residence and the private home for the park ranger. Nebraska state park permit required and $2 admission to the park. Day passes can be purchased at the entrance. Plenty to see for those interested in the Indian War military forts. Wish they had period... More

Fort Hartsuff was built to provide the European settlers protection as they traveled through or homesteaded the area. The site has been meticulously restored, giving the public the opportunity to see and touch history. Truly well worth the trip.

Great day trip for families and large groups. About a dozen authentic or restored Fort building are spread around the complex. Private donations / collections assembled in each of the buildings recreate the full historic experience + not everything is protected with plastic and glass, so you don't get that museum feel. Instead you feel and can sense what life... More

We stopped at the fort just to check it out and were pleasantly surprised. Very nicely done. Very informational and neat and tidy to boot. If you like museums, etc. You will enjoy Fort Hartsuff.

I love history. This is a great place to visit. It's neat to walk in the old buildings and stepping back in time. So if you're visiting or passing through and your into history, it's worth your time. Alot of rich history and alot to see.

Fort Hartsuff is well maintained State park in Nebraska. If you are interested in Army history this is a great place to visit. The Fort was restored from walls that were still standing. Many of the buildings were used to house officers. There is a nice horsebarn, with underground cold room for food storage.

I hadn't been to the Fort in years and I was delightfully surprised at how nice it is now. The buildings all seem to be in good repair and most have excellent displays inside. The staff was nice and on the whole we found it informative and fun. if you are trying to decide between here and Fort Kearny, come... More
