We always stop to see the dam on each trip, just think they are amazing. Looking forward to snowmobile up the other side!

Not only gorgeous in the summer and fall but also in the winter months. Very accessible. It is nice for families, on your own or with friends. There is a spectacular view of the ski area from Whitefish and if you take the ski lift you can get a fantastic view of the entire Flathead area. There are many walking... More

My husband & I took a recent trip to Montana and decided to drive up to Moose Lake in Flathead National Forest. Thank goodness for 4WD, because we hit some snow near the lake. We had the entire lake to ourselves and the view was amazing! Jumping in the snow, breathing in the fresh mountain air, and taking in all... More

We saw the sign to the dam so we decided to go take a look. Wow, what a beautiful and large lake. We ended up driving all the way around it. Word of warning: Only the first 10 miles are paved. The rest of the hundred plus miles is graveled. The road back to Martin City was in better shape,... More

I visited the Hungry Horse Damn/Recreational Area south of Galcier National Park. The scenery is spectacual, and there are no crowds like in the National Park.

We drove around the east side of the lake into the forest, then took NF 115 dirt road all the way through the National Forest, coming out north of Polebridge, 16 miles from the Canadian border. The road takes you past several small lakes & primative campsite areas.

It may not be as awesome as Glacier National Park, but it is beautiful and the hiking is terrific. We hiked a trail that took us to beautiful scenic overlooks and we could have gone on for days.

National Forest such as this are indeed a great American treasure. It was so thoughtful of our forefathers to have the vision to preserve nature for future generations. What a great way to spend a day observing the beauty of nature and wildlife sightings make it even that much better. Turn off the electronics and enjoy. Drive, hike or whatever.... More
