A beautiful after meeting hiking area that was only 15 minutes from the University. The first parking area was packed with dog walkers, but the other hiking and disc golf trail heads were not as crazy and they offered great views of town and the...More

We had a terrific hike here on a fine Spring Saturday. 7.5 miles. 1,000 feet of elevation gain. Well marked trails with plenty of views. Most trails were on gently graded Forest Service fire roads with no vehicle access. We chose the South O'Brian Creek...More

This is a wonderful place to hike, bike, take the dog...walk with your family they even have equestrian parking. There are so many trails that you can get away from town and really get lost in the nature of Montana.

If you are in town when it snows there isn’t a better place to go sledding. Hills of all sizes. Family and pet friendly

Spent many hours hiking/snow shoeing in the area. Terrain varies from nice and flat -- easy hiking/walking to hilly and more challenging. Our go to New Years Day walking area.

The Missoula Half-Marathon starts along Blue Mountain Road. It's beauty at 0600 in the morning with the sun glowing off the river is one the reasons we keep coming back. I'm sure it is just as pretty at other times of day as-well. I would...More

I did not get to fully enjoy this as the weather turned rainy. However I did get to start a trail loop. A series of trails lace through the hills and back hills. The trails weave around allowing you to design your course. The recreation...More

The trail system at Blue Mountain Recreation Area is awesome. You can take a short 30 minute loop or extend your hike to hours. Open meadows at the base and timbered landscapes the higher you go in elevation. Pet friendly and dogs do not need...More

Enjoyed getting out to stretch the legs and get some fresh air. There were miles of possible trails to take that ranged from easing walks to more strenuous hiking. Saw some amazing overviews of the city and surrounding areas.
