How neat to see all of the artifacts from Mt history. They have a neat little store inside where you can pick yourself up a memento to save as a great memory and reminder

Although I had precious little time before a planned afternoon meeting, I so wanted to tour the museum. So I took two hours out of a jam-packed day to take the self-guided tour. And how very glad I did. The C.M.Russell gallery alone was worth a visit. Yet the visit was only enhanced by the walk through time from early... More

Expected to see more Bronzes, bigger Bronzes, Paintings, and more Personal Life History. The other displays of the History of Montana was very interesting and informative. We arrived at 3:00 p.m. and had to run through the end exhibits as they closed at 5:00 pm. Arrive early if you really want to read everything and enjoy the exhibits. Is kinda... More

This museum, currently housed across the street from the Montana State Capitol, has very nice exhibits of Native American and Euro-centric history in Montana, hosts a small military museum, and has a research center for those wanting to get more in-depth history. Best of all, it houses a fine collection of Charlie Russell original western art, as well as other... More

This place is awesome! We took our kids here and they absolutely loved it! Being a Montana girl myself, it's great to wander back in time and see how Montana was in the young stages of life and this place does just that. Very fun and factual.

The staff is very outgoing and helpful, all you have to do is ask for their assistance, everything is well organized and easy to access. Find out information about early settlers, city directories, photographs used in newspaper printings, etc. There is a wonderful museum to go through depicting early life in Montana. They even have a tour train to show... More

Montana is an interesting state, and Helena is a most interesting town and the capital city. The Historical Society Museum is a wonder, and no visitor should miss it. The Charlie Russell display is a classic, and everyone will get something out of it. All the displays are first rate, and the Board that runs the place is even considering... More

Near the capitol building in Helena Montana is the Montana Historical Society Museum and the Charlie Russell Art Exhibit. You need a minimum of 2 hrs. to see everything. There are active displays and hands on displays. The 60 some art works and statues are thrilling to see and the tell you something about the artist. A must see on... More
