Charlie Russell documented the West that was vanishing before his eyes, telling the story of the American West as no artist had before. Many of the stories Russell told through Russell's art and life resonate even today. The first museum dedicated to Western art, the C.M. Russell Museum houses Charles Marion Russell's original studio, the home where he lived, and many paintings and bronzes created by Russell and his contemporaries. It also includes a compelling exhibition of Browning Firearms, featuring information on John Moses Browning (1855-1926), one of the world's most important and innovative gun makers. Now allowing photography except for specific pieces (no flash photography). Find out why the C.M. Russell Museum is the art and soul of the American West.

It was worth the price of admission just to see the 7yo enjoy it as much as the 12yo! Plan on spending at least 3hrs.

The museum displays meticulously assembled exhibits of not just Charlie Russell's work but other artists and artifacts as well, Outside the museum proper, life-sized bronze wildlife statuary astound. A Montana must-see museum for all travelers interested in Russell's unique art and the American West.

A wonderful collection of early 20th century western art focusing on Charles Russell from some of his very first work to his last work. For me at least it was a very remarkable journey and an opportunity to see, appreciate and admire his contribution to...More

Had a wonderful here with my 93 year old Papa. We enjoyed looking at C.M. Russell's work and art inspired by him. A must see if you are a fan of Western art.

A little off the beaten path, but well worth the effort to get there, is the C.M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana. Charlie Russell was one of America's greatest artists. He captured western wildlife along with the lives of the cowboys and plains Indians...More

We made a special three-day-one-way trip just to see this museum and were disappointed. It's good but be advised there's not a lot of C.M.Russell's work on display. When you travel three days to see C.M.Russell at the C.M. Russell Museum you expect to see...More

How do you come to town and not visit the Museum. I grew up with a Father who was a major player for decades. Take to some to see as much as you can and you will have to come again Too much to see.

Exactly as expected. We enjoyed our visit. The museum staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. It was worth the trip. We sat outside and enjoyed the sculptures under the trees before going in.

Awesome museum, don't miss it! The Russell works are beautiful! Many other artists are featured also. Lots of great exhibits and photos of Native Americans and their way of life. It is a bargain at twice the price!
