This is the king of ghost towns. There's over 60 historical buildings, and you can explore most of them. Plus, a seriously ironic story about the sheriff everyone should hear is included. Seriously, if you're in the area, this is where you need to be. Plus it's super cheap (around $5 a car).

We went with my 4 children all under 10 years of age. It was great to see the town. We hiked up to the gallows and the cemetery. Was definitely a great little town

Spent an afternoon touring and exploring this area. Could almost spend a full day! Easy pathway with optional stairs and alcoves for the adventurous. Excellent friendly staff. The front office also has lots of local-interest information. Great place for a picnic!

This was Montana's first state capital and the old buildings are well preserved and the old town is like stepping back in time. You can feel the old excitement in the air of maybe what it was like in the mining days.

I wish I had written this review when this was fresher in my memory. I will just say, I LOVED IT!!!! One of our top campsites that we found on our three week road trip. The ghost town is historically amazing! The campsites are beyond words beautiful. I will say this: I didn't believe in ghosts until this trip when... More

Such a cool place to spend an hour or two. Like a snapshot in time for the american west. It's amazing how well preserved everything is and you can still walk through the buildings to see things up close. You basically just walk around and check out the whole town one building at a time. There is a visitor center... More

My wife who is not much interested in ghost towns really enjoyed Bannack. She was interested in exploring the houses and the old hotel. We would go back again, but perhaps in the spring when the weather would be warmer.

This town is a ways off the highway but is well worth the drive. Great preserved town. You can go in and look around almost all the buildings. Book at the visitor center is $2 and well worth it to describe what you are seeing. I spent a couple of hours here looking around.

We went here on a recommendation. They have done an amazing job keeping the town intact so you can really get a glimpse of what life was like during the gold rush. You can go into many buildings and understand life back in the day. It is very interesting and worth a stop!
