Had an afternoon free in Bozeman and our raft guide from the day before suggested we try the hike to the falls. We were a little unnerved by the "off-road" experience getting to the trail head. But once we found the parking lot, it was...More

Hyalite Canyon is about 30 minutes drive from downtown Bozeman. The last few miles are on a rocky dirt road that any car or truck can drive on. Once you arrive in the parking area it is about 25 to 35 minutes to get to...More

Close to Bozeman. Nice paved trail leading to the falls viewing. It is very popular, especially on weekends. Get there early in the day or you will be surrounded by dogs.

Nice drive to Hyalite Reservoir then a short hike to the falls. Very easy. Wonderful photo ops which I took advantage of. Great way to spend a few hours in the mountains.

This place isn't too far from Bozeman, a little ways out of town but worth the hike. The signs getting there aren't marked very well though. The hike is mostly uphill and I wish they had some benches or places to sit at the falls so...More

The drive takes a bit of time but the hike is great and the falls look amazing. Just watch your step as you get closer, the trail isn't a single trail at the end and requires getting your hands on the ground if you want...More

A paved trail takes you close to the base of the falls. Adventurous souls can continue across a short distance of rock and dirt to touch the falls. Beautiful even if all you want to do is look. It can be busy at times but...More

This is a great trail for those that want to hike but cannot for physical reasons. It is .7 miles each way and paved. It does get steeper near the end but at that point, the falls are in sight. I recommend going early I...More

It all depends on how fit you are. I would say the average is about 45 minutes each way. There are a few steep areas don't be afraid to stop and catch your breath. Have fun! and remember to take some pictures.
