This library takes up a whole city block and is worth stopping in while walking around St. Louis. The library has some great architecture inside and outside the building.

This is a beautiful Carnegie library built in 1912 and renovated in 2012. It is full of amazing woodwork, ceilings, leaded and stained glass windows, chandeliers, and wooden library shelving. It is definitely worth touring even if you don't need to use the library.

Beautiful building. Well worth stopping in to see it. The architecture is incredible, the ceilings are super ornate, it's really just gorgeous. The stained glass was stunning. The library has a massive collection of books and media and it was nicely organized. I went while they had an exhibit on St. Louis Prom's from the 50's to the 90's and it was really cool! The staff were super friendly and let me take a library card as a souvenir.

Beautiful building! The teen section was very cool, wish we had something like this near me! They even allow snacks, at designated snack tables. Had fun just wandering.

Cass Gilbet was the architect of this 1910 classical revival structure and it is a beauty. The current special exhibit about women in the Americn Labor movement and their work in St. Louis. We were not taught about their efforts r when we were in school.

Simply stunning architecture that no one on the planet should miss! The staff in every room greeted us warmly and let us wander as we wanted...

There were several people sitting and reading --- enjoying the quiet and beauty. Only one room was loud and the two women working there didn't feel compelled to ask the patron to turn off his loud cell phone. We simply left that room when we saw they either didn't have the authority to do anything or maybe were too scared of the guy to do anything.

I'm so happy we toured this gem!

Once voted in the top 12 architecturally significant libraries in the world. Yes, the world. A beautiful masterpiece, a must see when visiting St. Louis.

I have NEVER been to a library where you can't sit and read. We visited 2 public libraries in the area and were not allowed to sit and read in either. No tables or chairs there. You can only stay 30 minutes too. I understand there is a virus but there is no reason why all of the tables and chairs have been removed. There was less than 5 people in each library!! So sad to have all of those workers there and all of the money spent for utilities from tax payers yet they can't sit and read????

I've used this library many times over the years. Very helpful were the old newspapers available on microfilm.

Treat yourself to a tour of this library. It is stunning. We attended a lecture on architecture, which was excellent. However, now through June, the library is hosting an architectural history display, a must to see.
