The pictures don't do it justice. Its breathtaking inside. Recommend visiting. We didn't stay long because the kids didn't find it interesting but it was worth the quick stop. There is a mosaic museum in the basement that costs $2 each to see. We didn't go in so not sure if it would be worth it.

Visited on a short "knock out the big list" trip through the city. We were very impressed with the art and architecture of not only the main building, but also the statues and gardens that surround it. Some areas are blocked off, probably to keep too many wandering hands off some of their important pieces, but you do get to... More

This cathedral is easily accessible less than 5 minutes by car down the road from SLU. There was amble free, street parking during our Thursday mid-afternoon visit. Mosaics are beautiful.

Worth a visit for the architecture alone. Soaring columns, multiple vaults & domes, marble everywhere and mosaics in a wide variety of styles. An unexpected treasure in the heart of America. If you have additional time, arrange a tour, then the crypts and dome interiors are also accessible. Plus the guides are quite knowledge.

The Cathedral Basilica is a not miss stop while in STL. The church has one of the largest collection of mosaic art in the world. It is very impressive to see the art and makes you appreciate how the artists did them. There is a small mosaic museum in the basement of the church which is nice. It is so... More

Don't miss the opportunity to visit this cathedral. The marble, the mosaics, I have never seen anything like it. We did not book a tour, but did a self tour. Either way, it's an amazingly beautiful church.

This church is gorgeous! The mosaics are unlike anything I've ever seen before. If you are in the area I highly recommend stopping by for a few minutes and enjoying the beauty and serenity of the church.

Do not miss this incredible place! the mosaics are just out of this world, comparable with any church anywhere in the world. Just when you think there could not be anything more beautiful, you step into the next room and it is just...WOW. You can do a guided or self-guided tour. Great respite in the middle of the city. Enjoy!
