Drove through

We were not sure exactly where to go, so we just drove around and stopped at points of interest. Many people out getting exercise, walking their dogs or picnicking.

Major fort in the west before and during the Civil War. The list of names that came through here is amazing. Oldest operating military institution west of the Mississippi. Now a beautiful park on bluffs overlooking the river.

More than 100,000 veterans and spouses are interred here. The uniform white headstones spread across the rolling hills in all directions. It's as impressive as Arlington National Cemetery. The burials represent every war from 1812 to the present. We attended the burial of a friend, a veteran Navy man. His ceremony was emotionally moving as the bugler played taps and... More

A look at the headstones in the Cemetery is overwhelming. To hear them play taps in the background is incredible. Anyone who cares about the Veterans needs to see this Park

I've been visiting B since childhood. I do go there regularly...like weekly. There's so much to do there including the archery course. It has beautiful views of the Mississippi River and has so much interesting history of war time.

Jefferson Barracks Historic Park is the site of a National Cemetery in South Saint Louis, where I have gone too often to bid farewell to veterans and their spouses in the 21st century

I am a local wildlife and landscape photographer and visit this park for the many opportunities to photograph the wild deer. There are even a couple of albino deer residents. The museums are very nice. It makes a great visit. It's especially nice to sit and overlook the Mississippi river.
