Don't take the name so literally. We're about fun. Not your white walls, walk around, and be quiet museum. If you want to climb around, get active with your kids or are a big kid at heart, we're the place. If you get freaked out easily, you might not want to come. We're four floors filled with miles of tunnels, a full cave system, over 30 slides, a circus, an arts area, a large outdoor climbing space, Architectural Museum, a Cabin that serves adult beverages, a Museum of Mayhem, Mirth and Mystery, and a ton more. Also, there's the roof with a Ferris Wheel and a bus hanging off its edge.

What a great place to see the architectural history of the city in an eclectic artistic environment. The maze like structures for kids was also fun for us adults. This is a must see stop in St. Louis.

We spent 3 hours here on a Thursday and was amazed at what it had to offer. A little anxiety the first 3-4 times our kids crawled through a tunnel or hole and we didn't know where it went but they had so much fun exploring together and normally they don't like to hang together. So intriguing and really enjoyed... More

Saying this is a 'museum' is a little misleading. It's more like a giant playground in someone's crazy dream and you can't find your way out. And you love every minute of it!!! Do not recommend for little ones - at least 6 yrs +. Be prepared to climb up, down, in, out, around... You will go below ground and... More

Make sure to plan a few hours and tour the entire museum. Interesting, fun things to do around every corner. The man who created this place was a genius.

Museum? Ok. Has some really cool statues and old parts of buildings and what I would call rustic art. Welding and urban artistic builds. The whole place os a giant funhouse though. I swear you could get lost in the caves area. If I were 12 I could spend a heck of a lot of time exploring this place. It... More

Here's the deal... I had heard all of the amazing things about the City Museum but hadn't been in any way, shape, or form mentally prepared for the chaos that would ensue ALL. DAY. LONG. It is a unique, eclectic place - overwhelmingly so, in my opinion. There are cool things to see, no doubt, but even so, many of... More

This is truly a remarkable and fun location. Very interactive with lots of tunnels, slides, hidden passageways. Your children could easily spend 4 hours without getting bored. It is EXTREMELY busy on holidays and weekends. Thus, if you are crowd averse (imagine an ant hill after it is disrupted....), I recommend going at off peak times. Larger children will have... More
