This could potentially be the most beautiful place in all of Paraguay.
But almost no one visits this place, due to its proximity to the most magnificent waterfalls on earth.
If you have an extra day to spare in Foz (or Puerto Iguazu), do consider to visit Saltos Monday. It is beautiful, and you get to be there almost by yourself.
We took the bus from outside the Central bus station in Foz (On Av. JK, opposite the bus station, there is a bus stop labelled "Internacional"). If you are a foreigner, you have to get off at the Brazilian immigration to get stamped out of Brazil. Tell the bus driver that you want to get off there. Otherwise you get into trouble. Then you can walk across the bridge into Paraguay, where you need to get stamped in. Since the traffic on the bridge is so bad, you might actually get to the other side of the bridge faster than the bus anyway. Then you need to get stamped out of Paraguay on your way back (and subsequently stamped into Brazil).
When we arrived in Ciudad del Este, we booked an Uber to take us to the falls (make sure that your phone has service in Paraguay, e.g. through a regional e-sim).
The entrance to the falls was 12 USD per person plus an extra 2 USD for the elevator down to the base of the falls. We paid cash. I believe that payment in the equivalent in Guaranis would be OK. There is a small snack restaurant in the area and a gift shop at the entrance.
In summary, this is a beautiful place, which is well worth your while if you have an extra day to spare. Besides, you can then tick off Paraguay as a visited country...

We stopped here on our way from Paraguay to Brazil. It is located near Ciudad del Este very close to the border with Brazil via Friendship Bridge. It is a very nice facility with a small cafe, gift shop, and restrooms. The falls are amazing with very few people adding to their charm. The walkways are paved and well maintained. There is a nice viewing platform near the falls and an elevator that you can take to the base of the falls for a small extra fee (worth it). You may get a little wet from the mist- bring a light raincoat or poncho just in case.
We had a private guide, Jose Acosta, who was amazing. He is very knowledgeable on history, nature, birds, and the Jesuit Missions. I highly recommend him and he can customize tours to your interest.

I’ll never regret the short trek I made from Foz to visit these gorgeous falls outside Cuidad del Este, Paraguay. I didn’t take my electric wheelchair here that I normally use, but if I had, I was impressed at the range of viewpoints I could’ve accessed without much difficulty. Walking was tiring as someone with a physical disability, but the staff give you a map to really familiarize yourself with the area, and I always knew where I was in relation to the falls and the general park entrance.
Having been in the region to visit Iguazu Falls, these falls in Paraguay certainly don’t compare to the sheer magnitude and splendor of their Argentine/Brazilian neighbor. However, they are still worth the trip. The workers at the little cafeteria and at the ticket booth were friendly, the jungle-shrouded fall vistas are stunning, and the overall hassle to get here is minimal for the return you get. One FYI, though…I made the silly mistake of translating the name of the falls to my taxi driver as the Spanish word for Monday, whereas Monday is actually just its official native name. The driver was very confused by this…just say you want to visit Saltos Monday (pronounced Mon-die) and people will soon understand.
A gem that you must check out when in or near eastern Paraguay! Thanks for a beautiful experience!

Clearly not in the same league as Iguasu these are delightful falls. You can view them from q distance as well as from a viewing platform close by and at the lowest level via access from a lift or steps. It's good that you can get close up to feel the spray from the thunderous main fall. There's also a nice little cafe that serves excellent empanadas.

Close to the town and cheap by bus or taxi! We got there at 8.30, had the whole place to ourselves. Get there early to watch the swallows darting in and out of the rocks. Nice cafe when your done. Away from mass tourists! Bonus!

If you are nearby Ciudad del Este, the Paraguayan three borders’ city, don’t miss it !
Very easy to reach, it’s at 5 min of Presidente Franco center.
This wonderful natural attraction is hidden at the end of a peaceful park.

We went to these falls during a day trip to Paraguay whilst staying in Foz Iguacu to see the Falls there. Though not as big and awesome, these Falls were still impressive and well worth the visit especially given that there was virtually no one else there when we visited.

Saltos del Monday is one of the most impressive waterfalls you'll come across in South America!
We took a bus from town centre which dropped us about 5 blocks away (10 minutes walk to the entrance).
The entrance costs $6.00 or 35,000 Gs per person (foreigners). You then pay an extra 20,000 Gs for the lift to go down to the bottom platform if you want to.
The waterfall is so powerful you can find yourself watching it with awe for half an hour or so.
Highly recommended

If you are visiting Foz Do Iguacu, it is very worth it to make a daytrip to Pararguay,
cross the border from Foz to Ciudad del Este, and from there, you can take a taxi or bus to Saltos del Monday. We have walked over the bridge to Paraguay, but you can easaly take a bus that leaves from the busstation in Foz.
The waterfall is of course not as spectacular as the Foz Iguacu falls, but sure worth an visit. Best to do this one first, before you visit the big Iguacu falls.
When we were there, we were all by ourself in the park, Its quite amazing

These falls are amazing. My father in law owns a house about a thousand feet from here. You can sit on his front porch and see the mist rise from the forest and hear the rush of the water. It is a beautiful place to spend a few hours. If it were not for Igauzu falls on the other side of the Brazilian boarder, these would be world renown.
